USD 2 billion expected to obtain in exporting tra fish

It is expected to obtain USD 2 billion in exporting tra fish in 2012 in the Cuu Long River delta. This is announced at a conference held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Can Tho on February 7, 2012.
To this end, in 2012, the Cuu Long River Delta will put 6,000 hectares under tra fish culture with 60% being granted with the advanced licenses such as VietGap, Global GAP, SQF1000CM and ASC with an output of 1.2 million tones to 1.5 million tones.

Attention should be paid to raising quality in producing 2.6 billion tra fish fries, meeting the requirements of the breeders. A program of safe culture, clean environment is also being implemented just to guard against diseases. On the other hand, efforts are being made to maintain the existing market and at the same time expand the new market for tra fish.
It is also proposed that the Government should promulgate soon a decree on tra fish with the sanctions against the violations concerning the export floor prices, the reduction of material tra fish price and the breach of the contracts of buying material tra fish.
In 2011, the farmers of the Cuu Long River Delta had put 5,430 hactares of water surface under tra fish breeding with average yield of 220 tones/ha and an output of 1.2 million tones, in which 600.000 tones had been exported to 135 markets, bringing in a value of USD 1.8 billion./.
