1,700 people practice firefighting and rescue at the largest commercial center in Hue

This morning (July 17), Hue City People's Committee coordinated with Hue City Police and other units to organize a firefighting and rescue drill at Aeon Mall Hue.

Attending the practice session were Major General Nguyen Dinh Hoan, Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ); Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Hoang Hai Minh, Head of the Steering Committee for the practice plan; Colonel Nguyen Viet Hoang, Deputy Director of Hue City Police, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the practice plan and leaders of the units.

Overview of fire fighting and rescue practice.

The fire fighting and rescue drill mobilized more than 1,700 participants along with many fire fighting and rescue vehicles, ambulances, fire pumps and air compressors.

Hypothetical situation: At 11am, a gas leak occurred in the kitchen of a restaurant on the 3rd floor of Aeon Mall Hue , causing an explosion, collapsing the kitchen structure, crushing 2 employees, and starting a large fire. The fire quickly spread throughout the entire restaurant, threatening to spread to other stalls, and toxic smoke spread to the 4th floor and to the lower floors.

Fire Police and Rescue Police of Hue City Police participated in practicing fire fighting plan.

At this time, the shopping center had about 5,000 people, the chaotic escape process trapped 151 people. Upon receiving the news of the fire, the 114 Information Center, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Hue City Police verified the information, quickly mobilized forces and vehicles, and reported and asked for instructions from superiors. Assessing that the fire was complicated and at risk of causing a large fire, Hue City Police requested additional support from forces stationed in the area.

After more than an hour of continuously spraying water on the fire with scientifically applied firefighting and rescue tactics and techniques, flexibly and in coordination, the fire was controlled and extinguished, minimizing damage to people and property.

Search and rescue work and first aid for victims were flexibly carried out by the forces during the practice session.

According to the assessment of the Organizing Committee, the exercise aims to enhance the response readiness of forces when a fire occurs, raise awareness, fire prevention and rescue skills for officers, employees and people at commercial centers - places with high population density and high risk of fire and explosion.
