An overview of the Chinese Yuan
The Renminbi (RMB) is the official currency of China. It has been issued and circulated by the People's Bank of China since December 1, 1948. In international financial markets, the Renminbi is commonly symbolized as CNY, while the RMB symbol remains prevalent in commercial transactions.
China currently circulates both banknotes and coins. Banknotes come in various denominations such as 1 yuan, 5 yuan, 10 yuan, 20 yuan, 50 yuan, and 100 yuan. In addition, coins are issued in smaller denominations of 1 jiao, 2 jiao, and 5 jiao to serve the daily payment needs of the people.
