On December 13, Ms. Pham Thi Tho, Vice Chairwoman of Nam Son Ward People's Committee, Kien An District ( Hai Phong City), confirmed that an incident had just occurred in the ward where some people attending a wedding party did not drink any alcohol, then had symptoms of stomach pain and were hospitalized for treatment.
Ms. Tho said that on December 10, Mr. D.V.D's family in Le Tao Residential Group held a wedding for their daughter at their home. The wedding feast was cooked at a catering establishment in An Duong District. There were no strange dishes, only traditional local dishes such as chicken, steamed shrimp, stir-fried squid, sesame beef, sticky rice, and soup bowls.
Of the nearly 500 guests, relatives, and neighbors attending the party, 12 people had symptoms of stomachache and diarrhea the next morning. 5 people bought medicine to treat themselves at home, 7 people were visited by Mr. D., taken to the hospital and Kien An District Medical Center for treatment.
After 2 days of treatment, 4 people have recovered and been discharged from the hospital; 3 people are still being monitored by doctors. It is expected that the remaining 3 people will be discharged this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
Also according to the People's Committee of Nam Son Ward, after checking, all 12 people mentioned above (including 7 women, 5 men) did not drink alcohol at the wedding party, they are relatives, neighbors of the homeowner.
The cause of the stomachache in these people has not yet been determined due to what type of food.
