1. Medicinal remedies from bamboo
Bamboo leaves: This is a medicinal ingredient derived from the tender or young leaves of bamboo, used to clear heat, relieve irritability, generate body fluids, and promote urination; it is commonly used to treat heat pathogens that damage body fluids, irritability, thirst, mouth and tongue ulcers, and scanty, reddish urine.
The effects of mature leaves and young, curled leaves (bamboo shoots) are similar, but when treating heat-related diseases in the stomach, the leaves are usually used, while when treating heat-related diseases in the heart, the shoots are usually used.
Bamboo sap: This is a medicinal substance made from fresh bamboo (usually young bamboo); it can be obtained by cutting the bamboo, cutting it into sections, then roasting it and collecting the sap that flows out; or by bending the stem of young bamboo at the clump, cutting off the top, fixing it to a container, then burning the middle part of the stem to release the sap and collect it.
According to traditional medicine, bamboo sap has the effect of clearing heat, dissolving phlegm, eliminating mucus, and relieving asthma; it is often used in cases of phlegm-heat causing cough and asthma (asthma with thick phlegm), stroke-induced coma, and convulsions (epilepsy).
Bamboo pith (bamboo extract): This medicine is prepared by scraping off the green outer layer of bamboo, then scraping the inner layer of the stem into thin pieces or fibers; it has the effect of clearing heat and phlegm, relieving restlessness and stopping vomiting. It is used to treat cough with thick yellow phlegm, restlessness, insomnia, vomiting, etc.
Additionally, bamboo shoots and residue from bamboo nodes (Tian Zhu Huang) can also be used as medicine.
The daily dose is 8-10g, in the form of a decoction, usually combined with other medicinal herbs.
Contraindications: Not suitable for pregnant women.

Bamboo is classified as a heat-clearing herb used to treat mouth ulcers, constipation, and urinary problems.
2. Some medicinal remedies from bamboo
1. To relieve fever, treat headaches, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, cerebral ischemia, dizziness, vertigo, and neck pain : Take 30g of bamboo leaves and 15g of kudzu root; decoct in water and drink throughout the day.
2. To reduce fever and prevent encephalitis: Dissolve 60g of bamboo extract in boiled water and drink throughout the day.
3. Prevention of Japanese Encephalitis B: Bamboo leaves, winter melon peel, lotus leaves, cogon grass roots, 12g each; decoct in water and drink as tea, twice a week.
4. Diuretic, hemostatic (stops bleeding), treats urinary bleeding due to heat toxins accumulated in the bladder: 20g bamboo leaves, 20g Ophiopogon japonicus, 20g Plantago major, 20g Imperata cylindrica root, 20g Artemisia vulgaris, 20g corn silk; 700ml water, decoct until 300ml remains, divide into 2 doses and drink during the day.
5. To treat difficulty urinating and burning sensation in the urethra: Boil 30g of bamboo leaves, 6g of *Thong Thao* (a type of herb), and 4g of licorice root in water and drink the decoction throughout the day.
6. Treatment of urethritis and hematuria (blood in urine): 16g of bamboo leaves, 12g of cogon grass roots; decoct and drink one dose daily.
7. Treatment for frequent urination, reddish urine, and painful urination: 16g of bamboo leaves, 12g of lampwick grass, 8g of *Thong bong* vine; decoct and drink one dose daily.
8. To relieve cough and asthma: Crush fresh ginger, filter out 20ml of juice, mix with 1 cup of bamboo shoot decoction, and drink gradually.
9. To treat dry cough, phlegmy cough, and sore throat: 16g bamboo leaves, 12g centella asiatica, 12g mulberry root bark, 8g gardenia fruit (roasted), 8g lemon leaves, 6g licorice; boil in 900ml water until reduced to 300ml, divide into 2-3 portions and drink throughout the day; or coarsely grind and steep in a thermos for gradual consumption.
10. Supporting treatment for pleuritis: 20g bamboo leaves, 12g mulberry root bark, 12g jute seeds, 20g gypsum, 12g morning glory seeds, 12g cogon grass roots, 12g Poria cocos, 12g Plantago major flowers; decoct with 600ml water until 200ml remains; drink the entire amount 30 minutes before lunch; then decoct a second time and drink before dinner.
11. To relieve heat, treat hiccups, dry mouth, bad breath, scanty urination, and constipation (not for hiccups caused by cold): 20g bamboo leaves, 20g bamboo extract, 30g gypsum (roasted red), 20g rice (roasted golden), 8g Pinellia ternata, 16g Ophiopogon japonicus (remove the core), 10 persimmon calyxes; 900ml water, decoct until 300ml remains, divide into 2 portions and drink during the day.
12. To calm the mind and relieve anxiety, treat mouth ulcers: 20g bamboo shoots, 16g rehmannia root, 16g akebia stem, 8g licorice root; decoct and drink the liquid throughout the day instead of water.
13. Improve sleep, treat insomnia: 20g of bamboo pith, 20g of Ophiopogon japonicus (root of the Ophiopogon japonicus plant); decoct and drink throughout the day.
