Originating from the 1992 competition, the journey of 15 seasons, as stated by the Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Council, Trinh Thi Hien Tran, has helped the city's Youth Union Council become even more aware of the special attention and investment needed in building a strong force of Youth Union leaders. It is undeniable that the quality of the Youth Union leaders will determine the quality of Youth Union work and the children's movement at each school, club, and group in each school and neighborhood.
"The most valuable thing about this professional skills training ground is that it has become a place to preserve the youth, enthusiasm, memories, and love for the profession that many of our colleagues, from the early seasons to the present day, have remained dedicated to the Youth Union's work for so long," Ms. Hien Tran expressed.
Le Chau Ha, the all-around winner of the first ever Olympic Swallow competition in 1992, recounts how, 34 years ago, she was fortunate to receive guidance and encouragement from many senior team leaders, which helped her gain more confidence before entering the competition.
After winning the award, he was assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union to work at the School Youth and Children's Affairs Department. This environment helped him continue to train, contribute, and mature in his work with the Youth Union before joining the Red Scarf publication unit of Tuoi Tre newspaper, where he currently works.
"The competition has helped me train and grow a lot. Today, all of you in charge of the Youth Team should boldly participate because it gives us the opportunity to train ourselves, review our knowledge and professional skills, which will help us learn and improve in our work with the Youth Team," Mr. Ha shared.
Recalling the first edition of the competition, chief judge Nguyen Hoang Nang said that after 15 seasons, the competition has been well-structured and spread to many localities with diverse activities. He said he was impressed by the maturity of the city's team of teachers in charge of the Youth Union, who have continuously and proactively improved their professional skills.
"While participation used to be primarily driven by a sense of community, now you are actively participating to improve your professional skills. The competition serves as a benchmark for evaluating the quality of the team of teachers in charge of the Youth Union. These activities contribute to making the team more confident and capable, and provide them with more opportunities to develop the city's children's movement," Mr. Nang said.
At the 2026 competition, Ms. Dinh Anh Nguyet (Binh Tan Primary School, Tan Tao Ward) won first prize in Category A - teachers serving as head of the Youth Union. Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Nguyen Anh Tu (Nguyen Van Be Secondary School, Binh Loi Trung Ward) won first prize in Category B - head of the Youth Union.
The first prize in category C - responsible for children in residential areas - was awarded to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hieu Thao (Lửa Hồng group, Chợ Lớn Ward Public Service Center). In addition, each category also had a second prize, a third prize, and two consolation prizes.
