The final round of the 17th National Press Awards - 2022 took place this afternoon, June 2, in Hanoi.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association , Chairman of the National Press Awards Council, said that this year is the 17th year the award has been held, with many new members in both the preliminary and final judging councils.
The number of entries for this year’s competition remained high, with 1,894 entries. The preliminary judging panel judged and submitted 157 entries to the final judging panel in 11 categories.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association commented: "The entries have closely followed major topics from politics , economics, culture, society, security, defense and all aspects of life in 2022. The press has promptly and vividly reflected major events and important issues of the country with prominent topics such as: Party building and rectification; fighting against corruption and negativity, protecting the Party's ideological foundation; efforts to restore socio-economic development after the Covid-19 pandemic; outstanding economic issues, hot social issues; protecting sovereignty over seas and islands, digital transformation, environmental protection, and responding to climate change. In addition, the press also commended typical examples and noble deeds...".
Notably, in this year's season, many press agencies have innovated, approached modern journalism technology, put information on different infrastructures and media platforms to increase accessibility for people; gradually implementing digital transformation of journalism.
Thanks to that, in addition to major central press agencies, some local newspapers also changed the way they selected topics and themes and implemented them in multimedia form.
The President of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that the members of the final judging panel are experienced and highly reputable journalists. Many journalists have participated in the final judging of many national and international press awards in recent years, are steadfast in their ideology, proficient in their profession, and objective in assessing and discovering good works and talented writers.
"The responsibility of the final jury is to ensure objectivity, impartiality, and wisdom, selecting the best works among the finalists, typical in both content and form of expression, addressing truly important issues of the country, ensuring political-ideological, directional, and honest values, having a positive and strong social impact, and worthy of awarding prizes," affirmed Mr. Le Quoc Minh.
The 17th National Press Awards Ceremony - 2022 will take place on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, June 21.
