17 intangible cultural heritage sites of Vietnam have been inscribed by UNESCO.

On December 9th, UNESCO decided to include the Dong Ho folk painting craft in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding, marking the 17th Vietnamese heritage recognized by UNESCO.

According to information from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on the afternoon of December 9, 2025, in New Delhi, India, the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee of the 2003 Convention on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO adopted Decision No. 20.COM 7.a.1 inscribing the Dong Ho folk painting craft on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.

This is the 17th Vietnamese heritage item to be inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
