On November 26, the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi announced that the health condition of two patients who were poisoned by carbon monoxide gas while burning charcoal in a closed room has stabilized, and one person has been discharged from the hospital.

The patients recovered well and one person was discharged from the hospital.
Previously, at around 8:30 a.m. on November 20, the Department of Emergency, Intensive Care and Anti-Poison, Northern Quang Tri Regional General Hospital received two patients in critical condition. The patients were cousins NTV (64 years old) and NTN (75 years old), residing in Nam Gianh commune, Quang Tri province.
According to Dr. Tran Thanh Tinh, Head of the Department of Emergency, Intensive Care and Anti-Poison, the patient's family said that the two people had previously burned charcoal to warm themselves and then closed the room. After a clinical examination, the doctor determined that the patient had CO poisoning.
The patient was intubated, put on a ventilator, given emergency medication... and given special care. After the patient's condition stabilized and was temporarily past the critical stage, he was transferred to a higher level for monitoring and treatment.

The patient was in critical condition when brought to the medical facility.
When the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital received the patient, he was in a deep coma, with stiff limbs, incontinence, and a life-threatening drop in SpO₂.
The patients were ventilated with 100% O₂ to remove CO2 from the blood and comprehensive intensive resuscitation measures. After nearly 6 days of treatment, both patients progressed well, were weaned off the ventilator, extubated, and had stable survival rates. Currently, one patient has been discharged from the hospital, the other is recovering well and continues to be monitored and treated.
