On the evening of November 12, the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival - 2024 (hereinafter referred to as the festival) organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association and the Vietnam Theater Artists Association opened at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater. Before the opening ceremony, many artists from the city viewed a photo exhibition at Lam Son Park with the theme: "Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival 2024 - Southern Aspiration". The exhibition has 68 works introducing plays participating in the festival along with activities and artists of 20 theater art units and cultural and artistic training institutions in Ho Chi Minh City.
After the country's reunification, with the convergence of forces including the Southern Drama Troupe from the North into the city, artists from the war zone coming out with the existing artists and the establishment of the Stage Arts School II (now the City University of Theater and Cinema) as the core to establish the Cuu Long Giang Drama Troupe in 1976 - later renamed the Ho Chi Minh City Drama Theater in 1998, the Ho Chi Minh City drama stage had a strong transformation.
Exhibition images at the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival - 2024 attracted many theater lovers to the opening night of the festival.
Since 1997, implementing the policy of socializing cultural activities in the spirit of Resolution 90 of the Government , the 5B Experimental Theater Club (later the City Small Stage Drama Theater) was born, paving the way for the socialization of theater activities in the city.
Along with that, a series of stages were established and affirmed their brands such as: IDECAF Theater, Hong Van Drama Theater, Hoang Thai Thanh Theater, Thien Dang Theater, Young World Theater... From there, contributing to creating a colorful picture of drama in the city.
