One of the top events in beach volleyball - the 2025 World Championship officially kicked off today, November 14.
On the opening day, fans witnessed a very interesting match between 4 Norwegian brothers - Markus and Adrian Mol against his brother Hendrik and cousin Mathias Berntsen.
The match created an atmosphere that was both fiercely competitive and full of emotion. Although both came from the Mol-Berntsen family's rich beach volleyball tradition, each pair pursued a different playing style, making the competition even more interesting.
After 2 sets, the opening match of Group B ended with a 24-22 and 21-15 victory for the two brothers Hendrik and Mathias Berntsen.
In addition to the four brothers mentioned above, the Berntsen Mol family also has another familiar name, Anders Mol. He and Christian Sørum have become the leading pair in contemporary beach volleyball, having won the 2020 Olympics and many world-level tournaments. In 2025 alone, this pair won gold medals in 5 out of 8 tournaments they attended.
The Mol family consists of four brothers: Hendrik Mol (31 years old), Anders Mol (28 years old), Markus Mol (23 years old) and Adrian Mol (21 years old). In addition, his cousin Mathias Berntsen (29 years old) is also a familiar name in the world beach volleyball scene.
The appearance of 5 brothers makes Norway a rare country with a large family competing professionally together with many outstanding achievements.

The 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships, taking place from November 14 to November 23, is the sport ’s most prestigious event. The tournament is held in Adelaide, Australia, and will feature the world’s 48 best men’s and 48 women’s teams.
