4 silent signs warning of early cancer

Cancer, when severe pain or a large tumor appears, is usually already in an advanced stage. In the early stages, the disease develops silently with very faint symptoms that are easily overlooked.

Many cases of cancer are only discovered when the disease has progressed. Therefore, paying attention to unusual signals of the body can help people with the disease get checked earlier, thereby improving their chances of survival, according to the health website Healthline (USA).

Here are some signs that may be early warning signs of cancer:

Prolonged cough, hoarseness

Some of the first signs of some cancers, especially lung, laryngeal, and respiratory cancers, can be seemingly trivial health problems. These symptoms include persistent cough, hoarseness, difficulty breathing, coughing up blood, chest pain when coughing or breathing, and occasionally recurring pneumonia.

If you have a cough that lasts more than 3-4 weeks, especially if it is accompanied by hoarseness, fatigue, weight loss, decreased appetite, or bloody sputum, you should see a doctor. This is especially true if you do not smoke or have chronic respiratory diseases.

These symptoms are often easily attributed to sore throat, pneumonia or allergies. Early detection significantly increases the effectiveness of treatment.

Persistent pain of unknown cause

Persistent, chronic pain in a specific area, such as the abdomen, back, bones, or joints, for no apparent reason, not relieved by conventional painkillers, may be a warning sign of bone, visceral, or metastatic cancer. Pain is considered persistent when it lasts for several weeks or more.

The patient should not be subjective to the fact that there is no injury, no heavy work but still pain. Even the pain level is getting worse or appears at night. The patient should go to the hospital to be examined, taken pictures, tested to find the clear cause.

Changes in bowel and bladder function

A sudden and persistent change in bowel or bladder habits can be a sign of cancer of the digestive tract, bladder, or urethra. These changes may include unexplained diarrhea or constipation, unusually thin stools, bloody stools, or a change in the frequency of bowel movements or urination.

For example, for colorectal cancer, experts note that patients should see a doctor if their stools suddenly turn bright red or black, they have persistent constipation, incomplete bowel movements, or they have abdominal pain or dull discomfort.

Difficulty swallowing, pain or tightness in the chest

Difficulty swallowing, feeling like food is stuck in the throat or esophagus, belching, pain or tightness in the chest after eating are often mistaken for reflux, esophagitis, or stress. However, if these symptoms persist and do not improve, they can be early signs of esophageal cancer, pharyngeal cancer, or head and neck disease, according to Healthline .
