In her opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of International Cooperation ( Ministry of Education and Training ), affirmed: “Over the past 10 years, Aus4Skills has contributed to improving capacity for postgraduate education, modernizing vocational training, promoting gender equality and social inclusion. With thousands of staff and lecturers improving their expertise, the program has created a sustainable connection network between the two countries. We look forward to continuing our cooperation to implement the new phase, towards educational innovation, developing high-quality human resources and leaving no one behind."
Since 2016, the Australian Government has implemented the Aus4Skills program, with a total value of 86 million AUD. With a mission to enhance human resource capacity through education and skills development, Aus4Skills has continuously expanded its scope to meet Vietnam's changing priorities. The program is now a comprehensive platform, supporting higher education, vocational training and leadership development.

Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Gillian Bird emphasized that Aus4Skills is not just a program but also a bridge connecting people, ideas and opportunities between the two countries.
“Through education and training activities, Aus4Skills has provided opportunities for thousands of Vietnamese people to develop skills and leadership capacity, promoting innovation and inclusive growth. These contributions have helped deepen the cooperation between the two countries, contributing to the elevation to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last year,” the Ambassador shared.
Through the program, more than 500 students received scholarships, many of whom now hold leadership positions in government agencies, universities and businesses; initiatives in higher education that improve governance and quality assurance have benefited more than 40,000 students.
In the vocational training sector, the industry-oriented education model has improved skills in logistics and related sectors, while contributing to increasing the proportion of female students from 13% to 60% - an important step forward in promoting gender equality in non-traditional occupations.

In the vocational education sector, Aus4Skills has supported initiatives to improve the practicality of training, connect schools with businesses, and apply new approaches to ensure graduates have skills that match market needs. At the same time, the program promotes inclusive growth by improving gender equality and expanding opportunities for disadvantaged groups, contributing to strengthening Vietnam’s commitment to social justice.
In addition, the Vietnam-Australia Center has also become a knowledge and leadership training hub for senior officials from both governments. These results reflect the shared commitment of both countries to build a skilled, adaptable and future-ready workforce.
Recently, First Secretary Peta Donald and the Embassy delegation visited Maritime and Waterway College I (MIC1) - one of 16 partner schools that have directly benefited from the Aus4Skills VET project over the years.
According to Mr. Do Van Tuan, Principal of MIC1 School, the cooperation with Aus4Skills has brought about fundamental changes to the school's curriculum. Since 2018, MIC1 School has become one of the first three schools in Vietnam to pilot the CBTA model in the logistics field, and at the same time put into operation the Logistics Center - a practical training facility highly appreciated by international partners.
