5 tasks to improve Ho Chi Minh City OCOP products in the new period

In the context of deep international integration and increasing competition, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program is not only a driving force for rural economic development but also an important socio-cultural strategy, stimulating community creativity, preserving local identity and promoting sustainable production.

At the event to promote and connect OCOP trade in Ho Chi Minh City, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Minh Thanh emphasized that the City clearly recognizes that developing OCOP products is not simply a task for rural areas, but also an opportunity to create links between agriculture , trade and tourism, forming a unique product ecosystem with regional and international competitiveness.

Over the years, hundreds of the City’s OCOP products have met quality standards, expanded production scale, enhanced their brands and gradually conquered export markets. This success has been achieved thanks to the joint efforts of “four houses”: the State, scientists , businesses and farmers, along with a constantly developing innovation ecosystem.

At the event, Mr. Bui Minh Thanh assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City and related units to focus on implementing 5 strategic tasks to improve the value, quality and competitiveness of the City's OCOP products.

Firstly, promote the development of OCOP products associated with sustainable value chains, enhance the application of science and technology and digital transformation in production, management and consumption.

Second, promote regional connectivity, expand connections between OCOP products of Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities; build a smart and effective distribution system, contributing to raising the level of trade in Vietnamese agricultural products.

Third, innovate state management thinking towards service, focusing on consumer interests and product quality, considering reputation as the foundation for sustainable development.

Fourth, strengthen promotion, trade promotion, build the OCOP brand of Ho Chi Minh City strong in quality, wide in market, ready to compete internationally.

Fifth, focus on training and fostering management capacity, market skills and innovative thinking for OCOP entities, especially cooperatives and start-up businesses.

With the theme “OCOP HCMC - Integration and Development”, the Vice Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee believes that the City will continue to play a pioneering role in innovating the OCOP model, contributing to the development of modern urban agriculture, civilized rural areas and elevating the Vietnamese brand on the world map.
