On November 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety said it was coordinating with the People's Committee of Dong Hung Thuan Ward (Ho Chi Minh City) to verify and clarify the cause of dozens of workers being hospitalized, suspected of food poisoning.
Accordingly, on November 10, 50 workers of a company in Dong Hung Thuan ward had symptoms of nausea, stomachache, red rash, itchy face... after meals.
These cases were transferred to medical facilities for examination and treatment, including: Central America West Regional Hospital 27 people, Tan Phu Regional Hospital 7 people, Tan Binh Regional Hospital 10 people, Thanh Cong General Hospital 6 people.
As of 5:00 p.m. on November 10, 41 cases were discharged from the hospital, while 9 people continued to be monitored as inpatients.
In initial verification, the People's Committee of Dong Hung Thuan Ward noted that the company where these workers worked had signed a contract with an industrial catering unit, organizing a kitchen at the company. During the lunch on November 10, there were 410 meals provided for the workers.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety has verified and investigated according to procedures, taken samples for analysis and sent for testing.
Local authorities also directly visited the patient and coordinated with the Department of Food Safety and the Department of Health to clarify the cause of the incident.
