6 students with outstanding achievements in the National Math Olympiad

Today (April 5), the Vietnam Mathematical Association in collaboration with Saigon University organized the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 31st National Mathematical Olympiad for Students. The competition took place from March 8 to March 9 for students and from April 1 to April 5 for university students.

As a result, in the student group, there were 214 official prizes and 42 consolation prizes. In the student group, the organizing committee awarded 300 official prizes and 73 consolation prizes to candidates with high results. Notably, among these, there were 6 students with outstanding achievements because they were valedictorians in a subject in each group or won first prize in both algebra and analysis.

The four universities with the highest achievements in this year's National Math Olympiad are: Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Hanoi University of Technology and Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology.

Sharing at the award ceremony, Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Hoang Linh, President of the Vietnam Mathematical Association, said: "In today's era, mathematics does not only exist in books or exam rooms, but is also present everywhere in life: from artificial intelligence, data science , to finance, medicine and many other fields. Therefore, your passion for mathematics today can be the foundation for important contributions in the future."

The President of the Vietnam Mathematical Society recommended that the Ministry of Education and Training not only consider recognizing the results of the exam but also sponsor and recognize the professional role of the Vietnam Mathematical Society; reward units and individuals with many achievements; consider adjusting the prize ratio in accordance with international practices implemented in 30 exams from 2024 onwards to further encourage the math learning movement of universities and students.
