The National Election Council has announced the list of 864 candidates for the 16th National Assembly in 182 constituencies nationwide, for voters to elect 500 representatives for the 2026-2031 term.

According to the compiled list, 864 candidates are allocated to 182 constituencies across 34 provinces and cities; averaging nearly 1.7 candidates per elected representative.
Preliminary data shows that among the 864 candidates for the National Assembly, there are 392 women, accounting for 45.37%; 188 people from ethnic minorities, accounting for 21.76%; and 65 people who are not Party members, accounting for 7.52%.
In terms of qualifications, 593 people have postgraduate education, equivalent to about two-thirds of the total; 261 people have university degrees. There are 612 first-time candidates and 235 re-candidates. 217 candidates are central government officials, 4 are self-nominated, and the rest are nominated by local authorities.
By age group, the group under 40 years old includes 187 people; the 40-50 age group includes 384 people; the 50-60 age group includes 259 people; the 60-65 age group includes 26 people; and there are 8 people over 65 years old.

Details of electoral districts and candidates in 34 provinces and cities.
Hanoi has 11 electoral districts, with 54 candidates to elect 32 National Assembly representatives. Ho Chi Minh City has 13 electoral districts, with 64 candidates to elect 38 representatives.
Hai Phong City has 7 constituencies with 33 candidates to elect 19 delegates. Da Nang City has 5 constituencies with 24 candidates to elect 14 delegates.
Can Tho City has 6 constituencies and 30 candidates to elect 18 delegates. Hue City has 4 constituencies and 17 candidates to elect 9 delegates.
In the provincial group, An Giang province has 7 constituencies with 35 candidates to elect 21 delegates. Bac Ninh province has 6 constituencies with 28 candidates to elect 16 delegates.
Ca Mau has 5 constituencies with 23 candidates to elect 13 delegates; Cao Bang has 3 constituencies with 13 candidates to elect 7 delegates; Dak Lak has 5 constituencies with 25 candidates to elect 15 delegates; Dien Bien has 3 constituencies with 13 candidates to elect 7 delegates.
Dong Nai has 6 units and 30 candidates to elect 18 delegates; Dong Thap has 6 units and 30 candidates to elect 18 delegates; Gia Lai has 6 units and 28 candidates to elect 16 delegates; Ha Tinh has 3 units and 15 candidates to elect 9 delegates.
Hung Yen has 6 units with 28 candidates to elect 16 delegates; Khanh Hoa has 4 units with 20 candidates to elect 12 delegates; Lai Chau has 3 units with 13 candidates to elect 7 delegates; Lam Dong has 6 units with 29 candidates to elect 17 delegates.
Lang Son has 3 units with 13 candidates to elect 7 delegates; Lao Cai has 4 units with 18 candidates to elect 10 delegates; Nghe An has 6 units with 28 candidates to elect 16 delegates; Ninh Binh has 8 units with 35 candidates to elect 19 delegates.
Phu Tho has 6 units with 29 candidates to elect 17 delegates; Quang Ngai has 4 units with 19 candidates to elect 11 delegates; Quang Ninh has 3 units with 15 candidates to elect 9 delegates; Quang Tri has 4 units with 18 candidates to elect 10 delegates.
Son La has 3 units with 15 candidates to elect 9 delegates; Tay Ninh has 5 units with 25 candidates to elect 15 delegates; Thai Nguyen has 5 units with 20 candidates to elect 10 delegates; Thanh Hoa has 6 units with 29 candidates to elect 17 delegates.
Tuyen Quang has 4 units with 18 candidates to elect 10 delegates; Vinh Long has 6 units with 30 candidates to elect 18 delegates.
Previously, the 3rd Consultative Conference had compiled a list of 217 Central Committee candidates who met the eligibility criteria to run for office.
Of these, Party agencies have 10 people, the Office of the President: 2, agencies of the National Assembly: 145, and the Government and agencies under the Government: 15.
The Ministry of National Defence has 14 members, the Ministry of Public Security: 3; the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and the State Audit Office each have 1 member; the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has 25 members.
After the list is announced, candidates begin campaigning through meetings, contact with voters, or the media to present their action programs.
On March 15th, voters nationwide will participate in the election of representatives to the 16th National Assembly and representatives to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The election results are expected to be announced on March 22nd, and the first session of the 16th National Assembly will take place on April 6th to finalize personnel appointments and address other important issues.
