Since Decree 168 took effect, 87 images of traffic violations have been submitted to the traffic police by citizens. If calculated from June 2024 to present, 1,880 images have been provided.
On the afternoon of January 9, information from Ho Chi Minh City Police said that since Decree 168/2024/ND-CP took effect (January 1), the unit has received 87 reports of images. This information is in the process of being transferred to relevant units to send verification and processing notices.

If calculated from June 2024, the time when the director of Ho Chi Minh City police launched a movement for all people to participate in detecting and providing information and images reflecting traffic safety violations through the ZOA page of the Traffic Police Department with the motto "each citizen is a traffic police officer detecting violations", there have been 1,880 information and images of traffic violations transferred by people to traffic police units in Ho Chi Minh City.
Of which, the review and verification units sent 654 notices inviting vehicle owners and violators and issued decisions to fine 128 cases with a total amount of nearly 500 million VND, including 61 cases of driver's license revocation.
According to the city police, the support for individuals and organizations providing information reflecting administrative violations of traffic order and safety (the support level for individuals and organizations providing information reflecting administrative violations of traffic order and safety in a case or incident does not exceed 10% of the administrative fine, maximum 5 million VND/case or incident).
Regarding this content, currently the Traffic Police Department has not made payment due to the lack of specific instructions from the Ministry of Public Security.

The Traffic Police Department has not yet received any reports or accusations of negative incidents such as blackmailing violators or being beaten while filming traffic violations.
However, to ensure safety for yourself and the community, Ho Chi Minh City Police recommend that people strictly comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety; and participate in traffic in a civilized and polite manner.
For citizens providing information reflecting administrative violations of traffic order and safety, it is necessary to ensure that the collection of information does not affect the honor, dignity, and reputation of citizens and respect the personal privacy and freedom of image of citizens in public places. On the other hand, if the information shows signs of falsification or distortion, the person providing the information will be handled according to the provisions of law.
Regarding the handling of traffic violations since Decree 168/2024 took effect, the City Police said that in 7 days (from January 1 to January 7), the City Traffic Police force inspected, detected and handled 11,830 violations, detained 4,333 vehicles (11 cars, 4,220 motorbikes, 102 other vehicles), and revoked driving licenses in 2,091 cases. The estimated fine was 42.5 billion VND.

Violations focused on handling include: 3,633 cases of alcohol concentration; 1,235 cases of speed; driving in the wrong part of the road, lane, or on the sidewalk 468 cases; stopping and parking in the wrong place 805 cases; not obeying traffic lights 389 cases; not wearing helmets 878 cases; vehicles that do not ensure technical safety of 3-wheel and 4-wheel vehicles 403 cases; passenger cars 294 cases.
According to Ho Chi Minh City Police, after more than a week of implementing Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, the unit found that the traffic safety situation in the area has had many positive changes, people have raised awareness and sense of responsibility in strictly complying with traffic laws.
Specifically, during rush hours on major routes in the city, the situation of drivers stopping at traffic lights seriously, stopping at the right line, and in an orderly manner. There is no longer a situation of drivers driving on the sidewalk, driving on the wrong side of the road, and driving in the wrong direction has also been limited.
People have had a positive change in awareness, especially the culture of not driving after drinking alcohol has gradually improved (people are used to using technology vehicles after drinking alcohol).
