On July 20, Hue Central Hospital, Branch 2, announced that it had just admitted 9 patients (both male and female) with suspected symptoms of food poisoning such as abdominal pain, nausea, and fatigue. These people all reside in Phong Dinh Ward, Hue City (formerly Phong Hoa Ward, Phong Binh Commune, and Phong Chuong Commune).
According to initial information, at noon on July 19, all 9 people attended a local death anniversary. The meal was provided by a restaurant in the ward.
After eating, unusual symptoms appeared and many people had to be hospitalized the next morning.
Through examination, doctors diagnosed the patients with acute gastroenteritis due to food poisoning.
Of these, Mrs. NTL (84 years old) is the most severe case. She is in septic shock and is being closely monitored in the intensive care unit with slow response, intermittent abdominal pain, and fatigue. The remaining cases - aged 54 to 76 - are currently in stable health.
