The cooperation agreement is based on the two parties' shared commitment to addressing the growing challenges related to non-communicable diseases, and aims to improve access to health solutions such as medicines and vaccines, as well as improve the quality of care in key areas such as cardiovascular disease, women's health, diabetes management and influenza prevention.
According to the World Health Organization, diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease are increasing rapidly in Vietnam. More than 24 million Vietnamese people are currently living with non-communicable diseases, of which 40–65% have not been diagnosed or treated. Population aging, urbanization and lifestyle changes are contributing to this “silent epidemic”, putting great pressure on the health system and long-term care costs.
Through the strategic partnership, Abbott and FPT Long Chau aim to improve the quality of care in key disease areas, while accompanying the Government in implementing Resolution 72, promoting healthy lifestyles and improving access to healthcare services.
The cooperation agreement aims to improve public health outcomes through telemedicine applications, sharing scientific and educational resources to enhance the professional capacity of medical staff. The two parties will also jointly develop remote consultation platforms and promote medical knowledge exchange in the Asia-Pacific region, supporting the expansion of the clinic system and digital health ecosystem.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Karim Elmashad, Vice President of Pharmaceuticals in the Asia-Pacific region of Abbott, shared: "Abbott is proud to accompany the Government, healthcare experts and strategic partners to build a healthier future for Vietnam."
Also at the signing ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Do Quyen, Deputy General Director of FPT Retail and Executive Director of Long Chau pharmacy and vaccination center system, said: "This cooperation marks a new chapter built on a foundation of trust, shared vision and long-term commitment. In the context of Vietnam entering an important transition period in the healthcare sector, we believe that this is both a responsibility and an opportunity to work together to build a proactive, accessible and sustainable healthcare ecosystem for everyone."
Abbott has been present in Vietnam for more than 30 years and has always maintained a strong commitment to improving the quality of healthcare for the people. Abbott's life-changing technologies span many areas from nutrition, diagnostics to medical devices and pharmaceuticals, constantly meeting the increasingly diverse needs of the people and healthcare professionals in Vietnam.
