Who makes the best tiramisu in the world?

The 2025 World Tiramisu Competition has just concluded in Rome (Italy) with a convincing victory belonging to Aya Okada, an artisan from Ishikawa province, Japan.

The 2025 World Tiramisu Competition took place on November 7 and 8 in Rome (Italy), organized by the International Federation of Bakery, Ice Cream and Chocolate (FIPG).

The event brought together 18 professional bakers from many countries including Italy, Japan, Morocco, France, Spain, Portugal, USA, Canada, Argentina, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Croatia and Brazil.

Contestants compete to find the tiramisu that scores highest in taste and technique, finding the ultimate tiramisu.

First prize was awarded to Aya Okada, representative from Ishikawa prefecture (Japan), with her tiramisu shaped like a coda piano.

According to the judges, the cake scored high thanks to its harmonious combination of flavor, appearance and preparation technique.

Contestants are judged on four main criteria including taste, technique, presentation and creativity.

The judges, who are chefs and culinary experts from many countries, said that the quality of this year's competition entries has clearly improved, demonstrating a trend of fusion between culinary cultures.

Aya Okada's win shows the growth of Japanese pastry art on the international stage, as well as the ability to adapt and innovate with desserts of European origin.

Meanwhile, the Italian contestants maintained their form, affirming the position of tiramisu, this year's results reflect the expansion of tiramisu's influence beyond Italy's borders.

The 2025 World Tiramisu Competition continues to affirm the appeal of tiramisu, a favorite and constantly creative dessert in many countries.
