Vietnamese cuisine has risen to the top 16 in the world, ranking above Thailand.

Taste Atlas's recently published list of the world's top 100 cuisines ranks Vietnamese cuisine in the top 16, while Thailand is in 24th place.

With a ranking of 16, up 3 places from last year and 6 places from 2023, Vietnamese cuisine is praised by Taste Atlas for its diverse and attractive dishes. This famous food website suggests many dishes for tourists to enjoy when coming to Vietnam, including pho, banh mi, banh xeo, cha gio, bun bo Hue, bun cha, com tam… In Southeast Asia, Indonesian cuisine is highly rated, ranking 10th, followed by Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines (25), Malaysia (29), Singapore (90), and Laos (96).

Leading the top 100 is none other than Italy, followed by Greece, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Japan, Turkey, China, and France in the remaining top 10. Meanwhile, other famous cuisines around the world include India (ranked 13th), the USA (15th), South Korea (19th), Russia (28th), and the UK (50th)...

Vietnamese cuisine has been repeatedly ranked among the top, for example, in 2023, according to Taste Atlas , Vietnam ranked 6th in the list of 24 best cuisines in Asia, ahead of the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia... and behind Indonesia. Or recently, the American travel magazine CN Traveller ranked Vietnamese cuisine as the 4th best in the world, praising it: "We've all seen the golden rice fields of Vietnam, so it's no surprise that the ingredients here are always the freshest in the region. Rice comes in all shapes and sizes – steaming bowls of rice, delicate vermicelli noodles, spring rolls – but always topped with local vegetables, tender meat, and fragrant herbs."

Additionally, Taste Atlas also announced its list of the 100 best dishes in the world for 2026, surprisingly ranking Southern Vietnamese beef noodle soup at 81st place, ahead of pho which ranked 83rd. Southern Vietnamese beef noodle soup is not as popular as many other Vietnamese dishes, and according to Taste Atlas 's description : "The name clearly indicates its basic ingredients and location - noodles - beef - region. The main ingredients include beef, noodles, garlic, herbs and vegetables, with roasted peanuts and fried onions as optional. Noodles, vegetables and herbs are arranged in a bowl, stir-fried beef on top, and finally garnished with fried onions and peanuts." Meanwhile, pho is praised as the most iconic and beloved dish in Vietnam.
