Amazon fires 30,000 employees, AI officially replaces humans

Amazon is preparing for its biggest cut in history, with 30,000 office workers being replaced by AI, marking a major turning point in the corporation's automation strategy.

Analysts say Amazon has “reaped enough benefits from AI” to drastically reduce the size of its traditional staff.

While it is still hiring 250,000 seasonal workers at the end of the year, the layoffs show that Amazon is moving deeper into the era of automation.

As AI becomes the new “employee” more efficient than humans, the tech labor market is entering a period of upheaval.
