An Giang welcomed more than 24 million visitors, earning nearly 68,000 billion VND from tourism

According to the Department of Tourism's report, in 2025, An Giang tourism will welcome over 24.1 million visitors, with total tourism revenue estimated at over VND 67,900 billion, an increase of 92.0% over the same period.

On the afternoon of December 8, in Rach Gia ward, the Department of Tourism of An Giang province held a conference to summarize tourism, foreign affairs, and border work in 2025 and deploy directions and tasks for 2026. Attending and directing the conference were Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc; also attending were Director of An Giang Provincial Department of Tourism Bui Quoc Thai; representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches, sectors, and units.

Director of the Department of Tourism of An Giang province, Bui Quoc Thai, said that during the year, tourism activities in the province continued to recover quickly and develop again. The tasks, goals and targets of tourism were all achieved and exceeded the set plan.

Projects, plans, tasks according to the plan, conclusions, and directions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have been basically completed and implemented on schedule, especially the implementation of Resolution 82, Directive No. 08/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister and the Directives, Resolutions, and Plans of the Provincial Party Committee on sustainable tourism development of the province.

In addition, the work of propagating and disseminating the law has been regularly deployed in conjunction with strengthening inspection and examination work, promptly reminding and strictly handling violations, actively contributing to raising awareness of compliance with legal regulations for tourism business in the province.

According to the Department of Tourism's report, in 2025, An Giang tourism will welcome over 24.1 million visitors, an increase of 27.3% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 14.7%, of which international visitors will be over 1.9 million, an increase of 90.3% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 55.7%; total revenue from tourism is estimated at over VND 67,900 billion, an increase of 92.0% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 72.9%. Foreign affairs and border management have achieved many outstanding results...

The Department continues to direct and coordinate with agencies to carry out tasks to carefully prepare conditions for coordinating to host APEC 2027. Economic diplomacy activities have introduced the province's potential, strengths, investment, trade and tourism opportunities to domestic and foreign investors.

Aid mobilization work was actively implemented, aid was deployed according to plan, achieved high efficiency and in a sustainable direction, helping to solve some urgent local needs and improve people's lives.

An Giang province's tourism industry strives to welcome 25 million tourists in 2026 (an increase of 3.6% compared to 2025); of which international visitors are estimated to reach more than 2.1 million (an increase of 11% compared to 2025). Total tourism revenue is estimated to reach 70,000 billion VND (an increase of 3% compared to 2025).

Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc commended the achievements of the tourism industry in the past year. The Vice Chairman of the province requested the Department of Tourism and other departments, branches and localities to coordinate,   Urgently advise the Provincial People's Committee to soon complete the Project on tourism development in An Giang province to 2030 and orientation to 2045, focusing on proposing breakthrough policies and solutions to achieve the set goals and tasks, contributing to developing tourism to new heights.

At the same time, coordinate   Implement tourism promotion programs and plans, organize tourism events in 2026 to attract tourists;   Coordinate with the Training Subcommittee in training human resources for the APEC 2027 event; actively and proactively implement international integration work effectively according to the direction of the Prime Minister and the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW, dated January 24, 2025 of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation.  

The Vice Chairman of An Giang said that defining the task of protecting territorial sovereignty and national borders is an especially important task. Resolutely protect the achievements of border demarcation and marker planting that the two countries (Vietnam - Cambodia) have achieved to build a stable and sustainable border.   At the same time, focus on grasping the situation of border work as well as territorial sovereignty...

Regarding the preparation for APEC 2027, the Vice Chairman of An Giang requested the Department of Tourism to deploy the tasks of the Sub-committees assigned by the Provincial Steering Committee to the Tourism sector; at the same time, coordinate with relevant Sub-committees to well perform the assigned tasks to prepare and organize conferences and activities of APEC-2027 in Phu Quoc special zone; Advise the Provincial People's Committee to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to well prepare the conditions for the successful organization of the APEC 2027 Conference in Phu Quoc special zone.

On this occasion, 11 collectives were awarded Certificates of Merit by the People's Committee of An Giang province for their contributions to the implementation of tasks of tourism development, foreign affairs, and border affairs in 2025 .
