After the contest, I talked with Nguyen Thanh Binh, one of the two individuals representing the Army who won first prize in the contest and learned that Binh studied information technology at the University of Technology (Hanoi National University). After graduating with a master's degree, Binh "joined the army" at Viettel Enterprise Solutions Corporation (VTS) as an artificial intelligence engineer from April 2024. Although he was trained in technology, Binh's passion since childhood was English. According to Binh, to have the current level of foreign language proficiency is due to regularly watching foreign science and technology programs on TV and social networks. Watching content while learning a foreign language, for Binh, this is also a quite effective way to learn English.
To win the high prize, Binh and his teammates discussed with each other and carefully prepared the content related to recent domestic and international events, especially issues related to the responsibility of youth. Thanks to closely following these contents, the team's question and answer and presentation achieved high scores and won first prize. According to Binh, this year's competition has many interesting new points, because the contestants can attend the "Vietnamese Youth: Mastering foreign languages - integration skills" camp with main activities such as: Discussion "International integration preparation for Vietnamese youth in the digital age"; building a project to "Improving foreign language skills and international integration for local/unit youth"; team building to increase interaction, practice international integration skills... helping the contestants gain a lot of valuable knowledge and experience to apply in practical work.
