Le Trung Kien High School is located on the bank of Ban Thach River, Dong Hoa Ward, Dak Lak Province, one of the strong and swirling currents when floodwaters rushed in, causing the floodwaters to rise and flow rapidly, causing heavy damage.
Master Le Tan Dung, Principal of Le Trung Kien High School, said that Dong Hoa ward and Hoa Thinh commune were the two localities most severely damaged in Dak Lak province during the recent historic flood , including the school.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Le Trung Kien High School has 27 classes with 1,188 students. During the recent flood, the entire 450m of the school's surrounding fence collapsed; 3 school gates with a length of about 12m were swept away by the flood; the ground in the school yard was eroded by about 350m 2 with the volume of soil (sand) eroded by water being about 450m 3 ; 10 large trees in the school campus were damaged; 1 mobile swimming pool was destroyed...
In addition, the entire first floor with 12 classrooms, 12 sets of teachers' desks and chairs and all of the students' desks and chairs were flooded. Most of the students' desks and chairs were made of plywood and were completely damaged. There were 7 computers, 2 photocopiers, 6 printers, 1 sound system, 1 refrigerator, 9 sets of computer tables and desks, 1 wooden filing cabinet, 1 sofa set, 10 swivel chairs, 60 Hoa Phat cushion chairs were flooded and damaged.
In particular, all student records such as report cards and grade books were flooded and damaged... the school is continuing to count the damage .
Currently, the school is urgently repairing the damage, such as cleaning up classrooms so that students can return to class. However, the roads leading to the school are currently deeply eroded, motorbikes cannot enter, and it is even dangerous for students to walk to school; the side gates are buried in soil and sand...
Master Le Tan Dung said that this year's flood was 1.5m higher than the historic flood in 1993 and the school is located right on the bank of Ban Thach River, where the water rose high and flowed rapidly, causing heavy damage.
Currently, military forces and university students are supporting the school to urgently overcome the consequences so that students can return to school as soon as possible.
