Since its inauguration, the Thanh Nien Xung Phong 915th Company Historical Site has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors each year, serving as a significant location for educating the younger generation about national traditions.

One of the notable projects is the Historical Site of the 915th Youth Volunteer Company in Luu Xa.

Prior to 2018, the historical site commemorating the sacrifice of 60 young volunteer soldiers on Christmas Eve 1972 was in a state of disrepair, lacking a comprehensive plan, with inconsistent investment projects, and its historical value not being adequately utilized.

In response to this situation, in early 2018, Thai Nguyen province established a Steering Committee for the restoration and promotion of the value of the historical site.

As a businessman who has lived and worked in the local area for many years, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy took on the responsibility of directly overseeing the construction and contributed 12 billion VND from his personal resources to implement the project.

The project was inaugurated on December 21, 2018, with an expanded scale of 4.75 hectares, including a memorial house, a reception house, an exhibition space, and many supporting facilities.

Upon completion, the historical site became a significant landmark in revolutionary tradition education, attracting a large number of local people, students, and visitors.

Sharing his thoughts on this project, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy expressed that this is not only a place to express gratitude for the sacrifices of the young volunteer martyrs, but also a space for today's and future generations to learn about history and gain a fuller understanding of the value of independence and freedom.

The restoration and renovation of the Huong Ap Pagoda and Muc Temple national historical relic complex contributes to meeting the religious needs of local people and promoting the development of spiritual tourism in Thai Nguyen.

Not stopping at the 915th Youth Volunteer Company Historical Site, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy continued to dedicate over 10 billion VND to the restoration and preservation of the national historical relic complex of Huong Ap Pagoda and Muc Temple in Van Xuan ward (formerly Pho Yen City), where King Ly Nam De is worshipped. The wooden structures and load-bearing elements, which had seriously deteriorated over time, have been restored, ensuring their historical, architectural, and spiritual value.

At the Doi Can Temple National Monument, associated with the Thai Nguyen Uprising of 1917, he also directly contributed more than 10 billion VND to carry out restoration and renovation work.

This work contributes to a clearer understanding of the historical value of a typical uprising during the period of resistance against French colonialism.

The centuries-old Duom Temple relic has been restored and renovated.

In early 2025, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy continued his charitable donation of 50 billion VND, directly overseeing the restoration and preservation of the Duom Temple National Monument, a place of worship for the renowned general Duong Tu Minh.

This is a long-standing traditional cultural space for the people of Thai Nguyen's ethnic groups, holding special significance in community life.

For his many practical contributions, on December 26, 2025, President Luong Cuong signed Decision No. 2578 awarding the title of Hero of Labor to Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy, recognizing the labor, dedication, and social responsibility of a businessman deeply connected to the local community.

Sharing his thoughts on this prestigious title, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy expressed that it is a great honor for him personally, and also a recognition of his efforts and dedication throughout his time in Thai Nguyen. "I am truly proud, but I also feel a greater sense of responsibility."

"This award is not the end point, but a motivation for me to continue striving, contributing even more to society, to disadvantaged areas, and to the community where I have spent almost my entire working life," Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy shared.

Taking care of social welfare

In addition to his contributions to the field of heritage, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy devoted much of his energy to social welfare work, especially in mountainous areas where people's living conditions are still very difficult, and their economic lives depend heavily on nature and the self-reliance of each household.

Having been closely associated with Than Sa commune (Thai Nguyen province) for many years, Mr. Quy understands the specific difficulties faced by the local people, from precarious livelihoods and lack of electricity to limited educational opportunities. Therefore, social welfare activities are given priority, continuously implemented, and maintained with a long-term orientation.

The rural road leading to Trung Son hamlet and two primary and kindergarten schools in Than Sa commune, funded by Thang Long Investment, Construction and Mineral Exploitation Joint Stock Company, will be put into use in early 2025.

One of his most impactful initiatives was the "Cattle Bank" model, through which he personally supported 50 breeding cows, valued at 10 million VND each, for ethnic minority households, primarily the Hmong people in Than Sa. This support went beyond mere donation, aiming to help these households achieve stable livelihoods and gradually escape poverty sustainably.

Sharing his thoughts on this approach, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy, Chairman of the Board and General Director of Thang Long Investment, Construction and Mineral Exploitation Joint Stock Company, said: "I don't want to provide short-term support. What I hope for and think about is helping people have the means to support their families and have the opportunity to improve their lives through their own labor."

In addition to creating livelihoods and supporting workers, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy actively collaborated with the local government in extending electricity lines and providing electricity subsidies for 15 years to 100 households in Xuyen Son hamlet, with the total cost of this program exceeding 15 billion VND.

In mountainous areas with difficult transportation, bringing the national power grid to every household is not only a financial challenge but also requires effort and persistent dedication throughout the implementation process.

"Electricity not only serves daily life but also opens up opportunities for economic development, access to information, and improved education. With electricity, people's lives change very quickly. Children have easier access to education, and adults have the opportunity to develop production and access new knowledge," Mr. Quy further shared.

In the field of infrastructure, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy personally supported the construction of a 5-meter-wide, 5-kilometer-long inter-communal rural road with a budget of 5.2 billion VND, and regularly repaired deteriorated roads, averaging about 1 billion VND per year, totaling approximately 10 billion VND to date. Specifically, he contributed over 500 million VND to repair damage caused by floods and the aftermath of Typhoon Matmo in October 2025.

In addition, Mr. Quy also contributed 4 billion VND to build a community cultural center and a health station; and constructed 40 solidarity houses with a support of 70 million VND per house, totaling 2.8 billion VND. For many years, he has also maintained the practice of donating bicycles to poor students, with 500 bicycles worth a total of 1 billion VND.

In particular, in response to the "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" program, he personally supported the construction of 8 new houses, each worth 70 million VND, and repaired 120 other houses with a support of 30 million VND each, totaling 4.16 billion VND. These activities contributed to improving living conditions and ensuring safety for people before the storm and flood season.

In the field of education, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy directly funded the construction of the Than Sa kindergarten and primary school in Xuyen Son hamlet with 19 billion VND. The project was completed in September 2023 with 10 classrooms and full equipment, helping students in the mountainous area no longer have to walk long distances to school in harsh weather conditions.

Not only focusing on Thai Nguyen, from 2016 to the present, he has also participated in supporting the demolition of dilapidated houses and carrying out social welfare work in many localities such as Ben Tre, An Giang, Soc Trang, Ca Mau, and Kon Tum, with support ranging from 1 to 3 billion VND each year. These contributions have been recognized by the local authorities through various forms of commendation.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy, along with his company, donated over 4 billion VND to purchase medical equipment, supporting frontline forces and people affected by the disease. He also dedicated an additional 1 billion VND to the "Wireless and Computers for Children" program, supporting students' learning during the lockdown period.

Labor Hero Nguyen Huy Quy hopes to contribute even more in the future, helping to spread the spirit of sharing and community bonding.

Sharing his thoughts on social welfare activities with the Culture magazine , Mr. Nguyen Huy Quy stated that he has never considered it a matter of recognition or achievement.

"When I'm in a better position, sharing with those in need is natural. I'll do my best to contribute whatever I can to help the people, and that's the right thing to do," he said.

According to Mr. Quy, as a businessman, supporting society during difficult times stems not only from a sense of responsibility but also from a way to spread the spirit of sharing, foster community cohesion, and uphold lasting humanitarian values.
