Labor Hero Nguyen Viet Cuong – A journey of willpower and aspiration for service.

Throughout the country's more than three decades of reform, there have been individuals who not only sought success for themselves but also quietly shouldered the aspirations of creation, dedication, and service. Businessman Nguyen Viet Cuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phu Cuong Group, is one such person.

Born in the heroic land of Vinh Thuan (An Giang) – a region steeped in revolutionary traditions – former soldier Nguyen Viet Cuong left the army with the most valuable assets: iron discipline, courageous spirit, and absolute loyalty to the Fatherland. These qualities of a "Soldier of Uncle Ho" did not fade when he entered the business world; on the contrary, they became a solid foundation for him to overcome the countless challenges of the market economy .

President Luong Cuong awarded the prestigious title of Hero of Labor to businessman Nguyen Viet Cuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phu Cuong Group Joint Stock Company and also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phu Cuong Kien Giang Investment Joint Stock Company, on the morning of December 27, 2025.

In 1995, amidst widespread fear of risk, he made a bold decision: to acquire a struggling state-owned seafood processing plant in Ca Mau , with just over 100 workers.

It wasn't just a business deal, but a challenge to himself. From that humble beginning, with sharp thinking – daring to think and daring to act – Nguyen Viet Cuong persevered in steering Phu Cuong through storms, gradually growing stronger.

In just a decade, Phu Cuong has grown into a diversified conglomerate with 20 member companies, creating jobs for over 10,000 workers. Under the leadership of its capable captain, Phu Cuong made history by becoming the first private enterprise in Ca Mau province to directly export seafood to international markets, with an annual turnover of hundreds of millions of USD – a remarkable achievement for Vietnam's private sector in the early years of integration.

Not stopping there, the period from 2010 to 2025 witnessed a strong breakthrough for Phu Cuong in An Giang. Modern factories sprang up in the Tac Cau fishing port area, and the acquisition of the BIM factory with a total investment of over 120 billion VND made Phu Cuong the largest exporter of offshore-caught seafood in the country, holding the number one position in squid, octopus, and surimi products.

Even during periods of economic volatility, Nguyen Viet Cuong's management prowess has been clearly demonstrated. In the first nine months of 2025 alone, the group's revenue reached over 1,720 billion VND, and export turnover was nearly 66 million USD, making a significant contribution to the economic growth of An Giang province in particular and the whole country in general.

If aquaculture provides a solid foundation, then urban and real estate investment is where Nguyen Viet Cuong demonstrates his visionary foresight. The 350-hectare Rach Gia land reclamation project – the first land reclamation project undertaken by a private enterprise in Vietnam – is not just an economic undertaking, but a marvel of intellect and courage, applying the most advanced technologies such as Geotube soft dikes and modern breakwaters.

From a barren, swampy area, Phu Cuong Urban Area has taken shape – a civilized living space with over 3,800 townhouses and villas, a synchronized infrastructure system, and modern underground electricity. This area has not only transformed the face of Rach Gia but has also become a model urban area, attracting visits and learning opportunities from international delegations from Laos, Cambodia, Japan, and major corporations such as Samsung (South Korea).

These telling figures further affirm the stature and immense responsibility of an entrepreneur towards the positive transformation of the country. According to incomplete statistics, in the past nearly 13 years, the group has achieved revenue of over 7,200 billion VND, an increase of nearly 340% compared to 2013; contributing nearly 1,100 billion VND to the state budget, a growth of over 2,800%.

Looking back on his journey, businessman Nguyen Viet Cuong affirms that success is not the effort of a single individual, but the culmination of many factors, including the invaluable care, support, and encouragement from family, uncles, and brothers; especially the companionship from partners and customers; and above all, the dedication and perseverance of many staff members who have always stood by him through every ups and downs.

What makes Phu Cuong's value sustainable lies not only in its projects or figures, but also in the compassionate heart of its captain, Nguyen Viet Cuong, for the community. For him, success is only truly complete when it is shared.

Over the past 15 years, he has spent more than 320 billion VND on social welfare. Most notably, he donated nearly 34,000 square meters of land worth 240 billion VND twice for the government to build schools; along with dozens of contributions to scholarship funds, rural infrastructure development, caring for the poor, supporting Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and pioneering in disaster and disease prevention and control.

These enduring contributions have been recognized by the Party and the State with two First-Class Labor Orders, along with many other prestigious awards. And the title of Hero of Labor is the most solemn affirmation of a journey of creative, dedicated, and humane labor.

Over 30 years of persistent effort, Nguyen Viet Cuong has not only built a powerful corporation but also portrayed the image of an outstanding businessman, soldier, and citizen, driven by an unceasing desire to contribute.

The title of Hero of Labor, which businessman Nguyen Viet Cuong was awarded by the President of Vietnam on the morning of December 27, 2025, is not only an honor for him personally, but also a source of shared pride for Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the era of reform and integration.
