Within the framework of Thang Long-Hanoi Festival, on the morning of November 16, at Tran Vu Temple, Long Bien Ward (Hanoi), Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports coordinated with Long Bien Ward and Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association to organize an event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Tug of War Ritual and Game being listed on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

On December 2, 2015, at the 10th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO held in Windhoek (Namibia), Tug of War rituals and games in Vietnam, Cambodia, Korea and the Philippines were officially inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
After 10 years of registration, the Tug Rituals and Games in Vietnam have been relatively well protected and promoted by heritage practicing communities; the number of heritage practitioners is increasing, teaching to the next generations is carried out regularly, and domestic and international exchange and performance activities are also actively carried out by the community and local authorities.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of UNESCO recognition, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports organized an international workshop “A decade of protecting and promoting Tug of War rituals and games” and exchange and practical demonstration activities with the participation of international delegations and 10 heritage practicing communities from provinces and cities in the country.
Among them, the ritual performance and tug of war game held on November 16th is the most anticipated part.

The performance of Huong Canh, Binh Nguyen commune (Phu Tho province) was extremely tense and fierce. From 6 communities participating in the UNESCO registration dossier in 2015, up to now, in Vietnam, there have been 4 more communities participating in the tug of war heritage community network. The exchange of performances and learning between communities also opens up many opportunities and conditions for the heritage to spread widely, communities can exchange culture, perform and promote the heritage. The exchange and performance of Tug of War rituals and games with the participation of Gijisi Tug of War Association (Dangjin city, Korea) and eight tug of war communities in Vietnam. Tay ethnic people in Trung Do village, Bao Nhai commune (Lao Cai province) perform a crop worship ceremony at the program. Rituals and games and Tug of War are mainly concentrated in Vietnamese communities in the Red River Delta, North Central Coast and ethnic minorities in the Northern mountainous region such as Tay, Thai, Giay,... with many types of ropes such as reed, rattan, forest rope or bamboo and diverse forms depending on the region and ethnicity.
The leaders presented gifts and flowers to the program's delegates, international delegations and 10 heritage practice communities from provinces and cities across the country.
