The ao dai, called Non song gam pham, weighs nearly 250kg and is 220.6m long. It took 20 embroiderers, seamstresses and beaders working continuously for nearly 2 months to complete.
Designer Phuong Ho used 410 meters of taffeta, chiffon, brocade, silk, and attached 3D patterns of brocade, chiffon..., hand-embroidered, hand-painted pictures, and attached millions of colorful crystal beads with sophisticated hand-sewn embellishments. Along with that were 380 stone-studded borders, 100 rolls of chopstick wool and wool, 300 large stones, thousands of brocade lotus petals, and hundreds of chiffon lotus leaves to complete this record-breaking ao dai.
According to the representative of designer Phuong Ho, the Non Song Gam Dap ao dai consists of a body and a skirt made up of many pieces. Each piece of the skirt is a cultural motif, history, natural scenery, famous landscapes of Vietnam, such as the golden terraced fields, bronze drum motifs... The image of a lotus flower spread across the skirt of the ao dai is made of brocade fabric, with impressive 3D embossed embellishments.

The Non Song Gam Phap Ao Dai was performed in April on the occasion of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the 2023 Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week in Phu Tho. At that time, the dress was 178 meters long. After that, she added dozens of meters of the skirt, which is why the dress changed in size.
“I am happy to have overcome my own limits and accepted the challenge. The recognition has given me more motivation and love for the work of designing Ao Dai” - Designer Phuong Ho emotionally shared.
As planned, the Non Song Gam Voc record-breaking ao dai is scheduled to be performed in a charity program to raise funds for disadvantaged children in Ho Chi Minh City this June. The charity activity helps disadvantaged children realize their dream of performing in a fashion show in the Walking on the River event that took place successfully last June.

Designer Phuong Ho's record-breaking ao dai also received mixed opinions. Some said that making the costume with an oversized size caused a waste of materials. Responding to this issue, designer Phuong Ho said that she welcomed constructive comments and affirmed that after the ao dai was presented, she would make many ao dai for application (expected 100 dresses), auction them and use the proceeds to do charity projects such as buying warm clothes for children in difficult circumstances in the highlands.
Designer Phuong Ho is one of the most dedicated and famous designers of Ao Dai. Her costumes are often inspired by nature, culture, and Vietnamese people, through familiar motifs on Ao Dai such as lotus flowers, palm leaves, etc.
