Green shirts promote green living

Climate change, air pollution, plastic waste and biodiversity loss are seriously affecting human life. In the face of this situation, the youth force has been demonstrating a pioneering and creative role in environmental protection activities, contributing to building a green - clean - beautiful planet.

Students of Bac Kan Secondary School (Bac Kan ward) regularly participate in cleaning and sanitation of the environment.

Responding to the Volunteer Saturday and Sunday, the youth of Bac Kan ward had many practical activities for the community. On the first two weekends of November (November 1 and 2), the youth unions and affiliated unions in Bac Kan ward simultaneously launched an environmental cleaning campaign with many specific tasks such as: general cleaning, collection and treatment of waste at schools and residential areas; clearing village roads and alleys; dredging drainage canals and cleaning school grounds.

The working atmosphere, solidarity and responsibility spread throughout the neighborhoods and schools. Ms. Nguyen Minh Phuong, Secretary of the Bac Kan Ward Youth Union, said: This activity not only demonstrates the spirit of enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the members and youth of Bac Kan Ward, but also contributes to promoting a green lifestyle and raising awareness of environmental protection for the younger generation. This is a meaningful work, demonstrating the responsibility of the youth to the community and the spirit of "Where there is a need, there is youth, where there is difficulty, there is youth".

Movements such as “Green Sunday”, “Youth Volunteers for the Environment”, or “Green Journey” are actively deployed everywhere, from urban to rural areas. Environmental protection activities are deployed regularly at each time, specific activities are associated with the celebration of major holidays of the country, locality and programs and activities of the Youth Union.

Typically, right after storm No. 11 passed and people's lives returned to normal, Thai Nguyen Provincial Youth Union sent a dispatch to the standing committees of the communes, wards and affiliated unions to simultaneously organize a mass campaign of volunteer cleaning, sanitation and environmental protection on Saturdays and Sundays.

Immediately after the directive, the youth union members at all levels simultaneously launched many practical activities to protect the environment such as general cleaning, collecting garbage and mud, clearing streams, dredging canals, handling stagnant water and cleaning village roads, alleys, schools, markets and public areas. The members also actively swept the streets, removed illegal advertisements and classified ads, planted flowers and trees, creating a green, clean, beautiful and safe landscape.

Many environmental protection activities are regularly and continuously deployed by Thai Nguyen youth.

At the launching sessions, the Youth Union units promoted propaganda and encouraged people to classify waste at source, not litter, maintain sanitation in residential areas, raise awareness of climate change response and reduce plastic waste. The activities were carried out with the coordination of the government, political and social organizations and the people, mobilizing a large number of union members, youth, students and volunteers to join hands in building a clean living environment.

In recent years, Thai Nguyen youth have truly promoted their role as a pioneering and creative force, actively contributing to the comprehensive development of the province.

In particular, in the field of environmental protection and social security, the youth of the whole province have carried out more than 1,200 environmental sanitation sessions, collecting waste in residential areas, schools, offices, and traditional markets; at the same time, they have organized Green Sunday, removing thousands of illegal advertising and classified ads, contributing to urban beautification and building a clean and beautiful landscape.

Ms. Pham Thi Thu Hien, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, emphasized: Thai Nguyen youth are not only pioneers in studying and working creatively but also the core force in building a green lifestyle and responding to climate change. Each task and each model contributes to spreading the spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility of young people in the new era.
