Yesterday (November 13), the National Assembly passed the Resolution on the Socio -Economic Development Plan for 2026. In particular, education and training were identified as the priority focus in developing high-quality human resources, contributing to realizing the goal of the Era of rising up to develop richly and prosperously of the country.
The resolution clearly states the task of creating a clear change in the quality of education and training at all levels.
According to the Resolution, the current general education program will be reviewed and completed, and a unified set of textbooks will be developed nationwide, to be used from the 2026-2027 school year.
The National Assembly requested the development and effective implementation of the National Target Program on modernization and improvement of education and training quality for the 2025-2035 period.
At the secondary level, the National Assembly requires improving foreign language skills for students, making English the second language in schools. At the same time, schools must train and equip basic knowledge of culture and arts and increase physical activities, sports, and improve students' physical fitness.
At the university level, the National Assembly proposed modernization, breakthrough mechanisms and policies, and investment in developing national universities and key universities on par with advanced countries.
In addition, universities must develop high-quality human resource training programs according to international standards, especially in key fields of science and technology, smart management, basic science, and priority and emerging fields.
In the field of vocational education, the National Assembly requires improving quality, promoting training and retraining, and fostering and improving qualifications and vocational skills for workers in key economic regions.
2026 is the first year of implementing the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2026-2030.
The National Assembly set out 15 main targets, in which the growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) strives to be 10% or more; GDP per capita reaches 5,400-5,500 USD; the rate of workers with degrees and certificates reaches about 29.5%; the number of doctors per 10,000 people reaches about 15.3 doctors...
