An Giang province's investment attraction efforts over the past year have yielded many positive results. Many unique tourism products have been developed and effectively promoted, such as the Ha Tien night market, agricultural experiences in the Bay Nui region, and the spiritual tourism festival at Nui Sam - Chau Doc... contributing to diversifying product types and increasing attractiveness to tourists.
Tourism promotion and marketing in An Giang has shifted strongly towards digital platforms and social media; digital information channels such as websites, mobile applications, and digital tourism maps are regularly maintained and upgraded. An Giang proactively expands tourism development linkages with Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces; strengthens international cooperation with Cambodia and Thailand; and promotes tourism in key markets such as South Korea and Japan, contributing to enhancing the image and position of the province's tourism.
Speaking at the conference, Bui Quoc Thai, Director of the An Giang Department of Tourism, said that 2025 is of particular importance as it marks the merger of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces into the new An Giang province. For the tourism industry, this change in administrative boundaries opens up strategic restructuring opportunities. It's not only a chance to reshape the territorial landscape but also to rewrite the tourism map with a fresh regional mindset, fostering linkages and sustainable development.
Over the past year, An Giang's tourism industry has proactively implemented many important solutions and tasks: restructuring the tourist market, innovating promotional activities to attract tourists; surveying and renewing tourism products towards diversification and increased attractiveness; investing in many new destinations, improving the technical infrastructure and facilities serving tourism, etc. As a result, the number of domestic and international tourists has recovered and grown rapidly, and the awareness of all levels, sectors, the business community, and the people about the ripple effect of the tourism industry on the economy has changed positively.
A golden opportunity from APEC 2027
According to Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, tourism is considered a bright spot in the overall socio-economic development of An Giang. Tourism indicators have shown good growth, meeting and exceeding the province's economic growth plan for 2025, contributing to ensuring double-digit economic growth targets in the coming period as directed by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee.
In 2026, in addition to achieving the set targets for tourist arrivals and total tourism revenue, the An Giang tourism sector will continue to direct and coordinate with relevant agencies to meticulously prepare for hosting the APEC 2027 Summit. The An Giang Department of Tourism has been assigned by higher authorities to serve as the Standing Agency of the Material and Logistics Subcommittee and the Protocol Subcommittee. This provides a very favorable condition for all tourism activities to be closely linked to the image of the APEC 2027 Summit.

In addition, the An Giang Department of Tourism is submitting to the Provincial People's Committee for approval a revision of the An Giang Provincial Tourism Logo, which will include additional circular symbols with 21 sub-details representing the 21 developed economies that will be connected with the province in conjunction with the APEC 2027 event held in the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone.
"An Giang province has identified the development of tourism linked to the marine economy and leveraging international events and cooperation, especially APEC, as one of the strategic breakthroughs to strongly attract tourists and investors," Mr. Bui Quoc Thai emphasized.
Currently, An Giang is effectively implementing the project "Developing Phu Quoc into a high-quality eco-tourism and marine tourism center of national and international stature" after it was approved by the Prime Minister. It is also developing and implementing the project "Developing tourism in An Giang province for the period 2025-2030 and orientation to 2035". Furthermore, it is drafting a resolution on the development of tourism in An Giang province for the period 2026-2030 and orientation to 2035.
Moreover, An Giang is developing tourism in a more in-depth, high-quality, and professional manner, linking tourism development with the marine economy in a sustainable and branded way; focusing on making marine and island tourism a pillar of growth, linked with green growth. This involves building high-end beach and island resort tourism products, MICE tourism, cultural experience tourism, while closely connecting with spiritual tourism in Mount Sam and Bay Nui, river and waterway ecotourism, and border tourism, forming a unique inter-regional product chain of "mountains - rivers - seas," enhancing competitiveness and the spending capacity of tourists.

A golden opportunity to promote tourism from APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc.
The 2027 APEC summit in Phu Quoc is identified as a golden opportunity to promote the image and attract tourism investment. An Giang's tourism sector will proactively integrate destination promotion and investment attraction through international forums and conferences; simultaneously, it will coordinate the organization of regional and international cultural and tourism events, leveraging the advantages of its coastal and island resources and diverse cultural identity. Alongside this, it will comprehensively prepare tourism infrastructure, products, and human resources to international standards, ready to welcome high-quality tourists, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) visitors, and strategic investors in the context of APEC and other major diplomatic events.
An Giang also creates favorable conditions to attract capable investors with strategic vision into the fields of coastal and island tourism, high-end resorts, green tourism, smart tourism, and large-scale service and entertainment complexes. At the same time, An Giang's tourism industry will continue to improve the investment environment, accelerate administrative reforms, and work alongside businesses, considering businesses and tourists as the center of tourism development; thereby forming driving projects and highlights that create a ripple effect throughout the entire industry.
“With those orientations, we have always determined that developing An Giang tourism in conjunction with the marine economy and green growth is not only a socio-economic development task but also a political responsibility and an important goal in the development orientation of An Giang to become a comprehensive tourism center, connecting the sea, border, and inland areas of the Mekong Delta region and gradually reaching out to the international community,” shared the Director of the An Giang Provincial Department of Tourism.
