Australia will provide $800,000 in humanitarian assistance to people in central Vietnam affected by Typhoons Fengshen and Kalmaegi. This is in addition to the $3 million previously announced to support recovery from Typhoons Bualoi and Matmo.

Typhoon Kalmaegi has killed six people after weeks of record heavy rains and severe flooding in central Vietnam killed 50 people and destroyed homes, businesses and livelihoods.
The Australian Embassy in Vietnam shares the loss of life and damage caused by storms and floods.
This additional funding will be delivered through the Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP), in close collaboration with the Government of Vietnam. We will ensure the most vulnerable, including women, children and people with disabilities, can access the support they need.
Ambassador Gillian Bird said: "As Vietnam's Comprehensive Strategic Partner, Australia has been quick to respond to Vietnam's call. We are committed to working closely with local partners to ensure assistance reaches those who need it most."
“I would like to extend my deepest condolences to all those affected by the recent floods and storms in central Vietnam,” he said, pledging to provide assistance where it is needed most. “We are working with our partners to provide assistance and help communities recover and rebuild.”
