To prepare for the first official flight on December 19th at Long Thanh International Airport, the leaders of the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority have assigned tasks to the airline regarding the operation of these flights.

Accordingly, the aircraft types used to transport delegates and high-ranking leaders of the Party and State (not commercial flights) are code E aircraft (Airbus A350, Boeing 787) of Vietnam Airlines , scheduled for the Noi Bai-Long Thanh-Noi Bai route; and code C aircraft (Airbus A320/321) of Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways, scheduled for the Tan Son Nhat-Long Thanh-Tan Son Nhat route, including only the flight crew and technical staff.

The Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority has requested airlines to urgently review and calculate to ensure sufficient fuel for aircraft on the Tan Son Nhat-Long Thanh-Tan Son Nhat route. If fuel supply is necessary, airlines should work with SKYPEC to provide aviation fuel services; ensure their own aircraft repair and maintenance services or work with service providers if needed; and proactively coordinate with Long Thanh International Airport to prepare the operational conditions of the runway and airfield system as required by the airlines.

The Civil Aviation Authority also requested Vietjet and Bamboo Airways to prepare the necessary aircraft, flight crews, and technical personnel as required; review and update the data and technical specifications of Long Thanh International Airport (as published in aviation news) to serve flights on December 19, 2025.

Airlines are proactively working with aviation service providers to agree on service arrangements for flights on December 19, 2025, and are also working with relevant agencies such as the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to obtain flight permits, and the Immigration Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) to carry out aviation security procedures as required.

This afternoon (December 15th), Long Thanh Airport officially welcomed its first commercial aircraft, operated by Vietnam Airlines. This is the first civil aviation flight to land at Long Thanh Airport, and it is significant in the final assessment of operational conditions, preparing for the official flight scheduled to land on December 19th.

Flight VN5001, operated by Vietnam Airlines using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a payload equivalent to a commercial flight, took off from Tan Son Nhat Airport at 3:20 PM and landed at Long Thanh Airport at 4:00 PM on December 15th. Shortly after, flight VN5002 also successfully took off from Long Thanh Airport on the same day.

This event plays a crucial role in comprehensively evaluating the technical infrastructure, service processes, and coordination capabilities among units at Vietnam's largest airport.

Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, said that the successful landing of commercial aircraft at Long Thanh International Airport is an important milestone in the process of preparing the airport for operation, thereby creating a foundation for Long Thanh to become a new aviation connectivity hub in the region.

"Vietnam Airlines is committed to working closely with relevant authorities and partners to ensure safe and efficient operations and provide the best possible service to passengers at the new airport," Mr. Tuan emphasized.

Long Thanh International Airport is a key national project, envisioned to become a modern air gateway and one of Vietnam's new transit hubs in the future, meeting the strong growth needs of the aviation industry and international trade.
