On June 6, FPT Technology Group and Pharma Group jointly organized the Forum "Innovation in the Healthcare Field" (Healthcare Innovation Forum - HIF 2025).
The event is a multi-dimensional dialogue forum between policy makers, management agencies, domestic and foreign experts, pharmaceutical enterprises, technology enterprises, medical examination and treatment facilities... to find the most effective solutions for people's health care.
Speaking at the forum, Associate Professor, Dr. Truong Gia Binh, Head of the Private Economic Development Research Department, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT Corporation, said that this is the time when we can have big dreams and big aspirations. To realize big dreams, we have the "four pillars", which are the four breakthrough resolutions of the Politburo .
In the healthcare sector, according to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, the three pillars for Vietnam's healthcare sector to make a breakthrough are: mechanism, innovation and public-private partnership.
The first problem is the mechanism . We resolutely abandon the mindset of banning if we cannot manage, and instead think that the mechanism is the strength of national competitiveness. So what is national competitiveness in the health sector? How to take care of people's health is both the goal and the driving force for development with the goal that the Vietnamese people can live a healthy life.
Mr. Truong Gia Binh said that it is necessary to let Vietnamese people have access to new drugs as much as possible. In the past 10 years, there have been 460 new drugs in circulation, the access rate of Vietnamese people is 9%, while in Japan it is 51%. How can we change the rate from 9% to 51%.
Next is how to make it possible for Vietnamese people to access medicine as soon as possible when they are sick, like the people of America and Japan. If that is the goal of the national competition mechanism, we will do it. We must make Vietnam's mechanism the most competitive.
The second issue is pharmaceutical innovation . At a meeting in Davos, Switzerland in January, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed this message to leading pharmaceutical companies. The idea is that Vietnam is determined to go into technology, Vietnam wants to have the largest workforce in the world with IT and artificial intelligence (AI).

Chairman Truong Gia Binh emphasized: "Vietnam's strength is the strength of its people. We have a huge number of young talents, 1 million IT engineers and aim to have 500,000 employees with knowledge and proficiency in AI skills. We have AI infrastructure, human resources, and applications. We have Resolution 59-NQ/TW promoting international cooperation. Similarly, we can do the same for the healthcare sector."
"We can become the world's largest clinical testing center. Why don't we have a dream of joint ventures to produce new drugs between pharmaceutical companies and technology companies based on AI technology?", Mr. Truong Gia Binh asked.
The third issue is to promote the role of the private economy according to Resolution 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo. Pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, doctors, pharmacists link up on the basis of data linkage. We must train a workforce that knows both IT and artificial intelligence, as well as physical chemistry, biochemistry, etc.
"I think an important message today is that we can only join the ranks of advanced countries in the world when we enter the most advanced industries, including the pharmaceutical industry," Mr. Truong Gia Binh affirmed.
