President Vo Van Thuong said that when he visited Lao Cai from September 23 to 24, 1958, Uncle Ho advised the Party Committee and ethnic people of Lao Cai to unite closely, increase production, ensure order and security, and preserve traditional customs. He wished that "the people, soldiers and cadres of our province will strive to compete to make our province more prosperous and happy".
Over the past 65 years, following his teachings, the Party Committee and people of all ethnic groups in Lao Cai have always been united, striving to build Lao Cai to constantly develop and change every day. The appearance of the countryside and cities has become much more beautiful than 65 years ago.
Especially after more than 30 years of re-establishing the province, from a land devastated by war, one of the 6 poorest provinces in the country, Lao Cai has become the leading locality in the Northwest region, a developed province in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region.
Emphasizing that the 65th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Lao Cai is an important event, the President requested that every cadre, party member, and ethnic people of Lao Cai province always remember and absorb Uncle Ho's teachings of strategic thinking and foresight; better understand Uncle Ho's feelings for the ethnic people of Lao Cai and the feelings of the Lao Cai people for their beloved Uncle Ho.
The President requested Lao Cai province to continue strengthening the strength of the great national unity bloc; ensuring that all ethnic groups are equal, supportive, and help each other to develop together. Uncle Ho taught Lao Cai: “All ethnic groups must unite closely, love and help each other like blood brothers. Especially for ethnic groups with very few people... the larger ethnic groups must find ways to help them in all aspects.”
With its important position in national defense and security, the "fence" of the Fatherland, the President requested Lao Cai to constantly consolidate the national defense posture associated with the people's security posture, "the posture of the people's hearts", ensure political stability, firmly protect independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national border security.
