For young children, Uncle Ho was not only the beloved leader of the nation but also like a kind grandfather, always watching over and reminding them to be well-behaved, study hard, and love everyone.
Throughout his life, President Ho Chi Minh always showed special love and affection for children and teenagers. Despite being busy with countless tasks, he still wrote letters to them every Mid-Autumn Festival, conveying his love, trust, and simple yet profound advice.
The verses, "Children are like buds on a branch / Knowing how to eat, sleep, and study is being good," are still memorized by many generations of children as a gentle reminder of diligence and politeness.

Children in Bac Ninh participate in a painting competition on the theme "Our Uncle Ho". |
In response to Uncle Ho's immense affection, the children of Bac Ninh also have their own unique ways of expressing their love and respect for him. Within the framework of this year's Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in Bac Ninh province, many meaningful activities with the theme "Our Uncle Ho" were organized, such as painting competitions, artistic book stacking, and learning about Uncle Ho's history… These activities both stimulate creativity and nurture in the children a love for their homeland and a deep respect for Uncle Ho.
In the painting competition, hundreds of artworks from elementary school students offered innocent and pure perspectives on the beloved President Ho Chi Minh. Some children depicted him sitting and telling stories to children under the shade of a green tree; others showed him planting trees with children, sharing candy, or holding hands with children while they happily sang and danced... Through the imagination of children, President Ho Chi Minh appeared with gentle eyes, a kind smile, and a simple khaki uniform, familiar to generations of Vietnamese people.
Winning first prize in the painting competition, Bui Minh Anh, a student in class 4A4 at Tien An Primary School (Kinh Bac ward), expressed: "I felt very happy when I drew Uncle Ho. I liked drawing his smile the most. I vow to study hard to be worthy of being a good child of Uncle Ho..."
If painting helps children express their feelings through colors, then books open a door for them to understand more deeply about the life and character of President Ho Chi Minh. At the history and book arrangement competition with the theme "Our President Ho Chi Minh," Tran Thi Minh Anh, a student in class 7A2 of Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School (Bac Giang ward), emotionally shared: "I especially love the book 'Stories about President Ho Chi Minh.' Through each page, I feel the simplicity and boundless love that President Ho Chi Minh had for children, reminding me to strive to study hard."
By following the five teachings of President Ho Chi Minh, the children not only become well-behaved and excel in their studies, but also develop a sense of character and cultivate love for their homeland and country, so that they can grow up to become citizens who contribute to the community.
Having spent considerable time researching President Ho Chi Minh's childhood and his journey to save the country, Ngo Thi Tuyet Ngoc, a student in class 8A1 at Hoa Long Secondary School (Kinh Bac Ward), won first prize in a history quiz on the topic of President Ho Chi Minh. Tuyet Ngoc confided: "The image of young Nguyen Tat Thanh leaving Nha Rong Wharf with nothing but his bare hands to find a way to save the country has always left a deep impression on me. What makes me most proud is not the prize I won, but the fact that through this competition, I understand more about President Ho Chi Minh, about the good qualities of his character and personality."
These innocent and sincere emotions are also the shared feelings of the children of Bac Ninh towards Uncle Ho. From their love and respect for Uncle Ho, many children have reminded themselves to be more diligent in their studies, more polite in their behavior, and to nurture beautiful dreams for the future.
