The 500 kV Bac Ninh Transformer Station and connecting line project is a special-class, group B energy project invested by EVNNPT , managed by the Northern Power Project Management Board (NPMB), and operated by Power Transmission Company 1 after completion.
The project was approved in principle and by the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province on September 17, 2024 (Decision No. 481/QD-UBND) with a total investment of more than VND 1,540 billion.
The project's main scale is to build a new 500kV Bac Ninh substation with a capacity of 1,800MVA, including 2 transformers, each transformer is 900MVA. The 500kV side installs 4 feeders, the 220kV side installs equipment for 13 feeders. The control, protection and measurement, communication and SCADA systems are equipped in accordance with EVN and EVNNPT regulations, complying with current standards and regulations.
The connection line section will construct two new 500kV lines, one circuit, approximately 0.31 km long (branch 1) and 0.49 km (branch 2) connecting on the existing 500/220 kV Bac Ninh 2 - Pho Noi line. Construct two new 220kV lines, two circuits, approximately 0.38 km long (branch 1) and 0.23 km (branch 2) connecting on the existing 500/220 kV Bac Ninh 2 - Pho Noi line.

Once completed, the project will meet the electricity supply needs of urban areas, industrial parks of Bac Ninh province and other loads in the region to promote economic development and improve social security in the locality.
It is known that Bac Ninh is a locality with rapid economic growth and a huge demand for electricity. After the merger, Bac Ninh has more than 1 million electricity customers, including tens of thousands of businesses in industrial zones. Therefore, EVNNPT invested in the project to ensure electricity supply for the province as well as ensure regional energy security.
The project is built in Chi Lang commune, Bac Ninh province.
In order to complete the project on schedule and with quality, EVNNPT requires relevant units during the construction process to strictly implement technical regulations and construction procedures, ensuring labor safety, environmental sanitation and construction quality. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen coordination and mobilize maximum resources to speed up the progress and complete the energization according to the investor's instructions.
EVNNPT leaders also expressed their deep gratitude to the government and people of Chi Lang commune, Bac Ninh province for accompanying and supporting the site clearance work, creating favorable conditions for the project implementation process. EVNNPT leaders affirmed that the consensus of the people is an important foundation for the success of the project, and at the same time hoped to continue to receive support and cooperation from all levels of government and people in the next construction phase.
As the investor, EVNNPT commits to implementing the project on schedule, with quality and absolute safety, closely coordinating with the locality in compensation and site clearance, ensuring the legitimate rights of the people. EVNNPT will also mobilize all resources, human resources, and synchronous coordination between the Project Management Board and contractors to put the project into operation as soon as possible.
The contractor representative pledged to focus resources on construction on schedule and quality, and hoped to continue receiving support and close coordination from the authorities and people in the areas the project passes through, especially in site clearance, to ensure stable electricity supply progress for the area.
