Bac Ninh launches free health check-up campaign for union members and workers

On November 28, in Bac Ninh, the free medical examination program for union members and workers officially opened, starting a series of activities to take care of workers' health, implemented by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in coordination with the Department of Building the Movement to Protect National Security (Ministry of Public Security) in many localities across the country.

This is part of a plan to provide free medical examinations for 15,000 workers at enterprises and industrial parks in Hai Phong, Nghe An, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Dong Nai, Lam Dong and Ho Chi Minh City, scheduled to take place in the 2025-2026 period.

In Bac Ninh , the program took place from November 28 to December 2, whereby 2,000 union members and workers at 6 enterprises received a health check-up package worth VND 1.9 million/person.

This package includes a general internal examination, blood cancer screening test, Thalassemia screening, thyroid ultrasound, knee ultrasound and abdominal ultrasound. Immediately after the opening ceremony, the medical team organized direct examinations for 400 union members and workers.

According to the representative of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, taking care of workers' health is a task that is regularly implemented. For many years, the "Your Health" model has been maintained by trade unions at all levels, organizing hundreds of free medical examinations and consultations each year, providing practical support to tens of thousands of workers.

The 2025 medical examination program continues to concretize the above policy and is part of a series of coordinated activities between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Ministry of Public Security according to the Coordination Regulations between the two sectors.

To implement on a large scale, the Labor Relations Department (Vietnam General Confederation of Labor) has sent a dispatch to the relevant provincial and municipal Labor Federations, requesting to make a list of subjects to be examined, prepare facilities, opening locations and organize the examination. Each session lasts from 5-10 days, each day is expected to examine 400 workers, divided into two shifts: morning and afternoon.

To date, the Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor has completed the medical examination for 2,000 workers. The remaining localities including Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Lam Dong will implement as planned, with a scale of 1,000-4,000 people/locality.

A notable point in this year's program is the integration of legal propaganda and the mobilization of workers to participate in the movement of the People Protecting National Security. Accordingly, this activity will help workers raise awareness of self-protection against the risks of high-tech crimes, black credit, property theft or online fraud, which are on the rise in industrial zones. Through training sessions and dialogues, workers are instructed on how to identify violations and how to coordinate with businesses and authorities when detecting signs of crime.
