Along with the strong breakthrough in investment attraction, industrial production, trade, service and export activities, in recent times, Bac Ninh province has promoted the application of information technology, actively transforming digitally in all fields, with three pillars: Digital government, digital economy and digital society. In agricultural production, the locality prioritizes investment, aiming to develop smart agriculture and modern rural areas.
Many farms in Bac Ninh are monitored and cared for automatically.
To concretize the above goal, the People's Council of Bac Ninh province issued Resolution No. 07/2022/NQ-HDND. Accordingly, the province supports three billion VND/project for equipment innovation, improvement, transfer, application of high technology, new technology in agriculture ; supports 30% of the cost of purchasing machinery and equipment for agricultural production and processing; supports traceability stamps...

Since 2022, the Bac Ninh Center for Agricultural Extension and High-tech Agricultural Development has widely applied drones, automating all three stages of rice production, including: sowing, fertilizing and spraying pesticides. This helps farmers reduce labor, ensure the crop schedule and meet technical requirements.
Mr. Bui Van Mai in Han Quang commune (Que Vo town) said: Instead of spending many hours wading through the fields, using a drone only takes 15-20 minutes to complete sowing and spraying herbicides for 6 hectares of fields. People only need to stand on the bank and operate remotely, without having to come into contact with chemicals, so it is safe for health.
On the other hand, the cost of renting the machine is not high, only from 20-30 thousand VND/sao. Through four rice crops using drones, in addition to the above advantages, this application also helps farmers reduce costs, increase productivity and economic efficiency, thereby changing the mindset in agricultural production,...
Hai Phong Agricultural Products Import and Export Company Limited (Minh Tan Commune, Luong Tai District) is a typical example. Thanks to the promotion of the application of the Internet of Things and cloud computing technology, the entire work process such as fertilizing, irrigation, and vegetable and fruit care in 5 hectares of greenhouses, greenhouses, and net houses are all automated.
At the same time, based on the accurately updated information, the farm owner can remotely control the stages via laptop or smartphone. According to the company director Nguyen Thi Tram, this application has helped increase crop productivity at the farm compared to before; on average, each month the market is supplied with 15 to 20 tons of cucumbers, tomatoes, and various vegetables, with revenue reaching about two billion VND.
On the other hand, digitalization not only creates breakthroughs from production to product consumption, but also helps the company build brands for agricultural products, and sign stable contracts with partners in Hanoi, Bac Ninh and some neighboring provinces.
Digitalization is also widely applied in cultivation, livestock, aquaculture and connecting the consumption of agricultural products. However, because this is a new field, requiring thorough investment and a large amount of capital, the number of high-tech and effective models of digital transformation in agriculture in Bac Ninh is still not much.
Promoting digital transformation in manufacturing
To achieve the goal of high-tech agricultural value accounting for 40% of the total value of the whole industry by 2025, Bac Ninh has implemented other synchronous measures. In particular, the Provincial Farmers' Association has organized many activities to contribute to changing members' awareness of high-tech agricultural production and digital transformation in agriculture.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association Nguyen Cong Thao said: In recent times, the Provincial Vocational Training and Farmers' Support Center has organized dozens of vocational training classes for rural workers, focusing on advanced techniques in growing safe vegetables, mushrooms, livestock, aquaculture, etc.
At the end of May 2023, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province coordinated with the National Agricultural Extension Center to organize a workshop: "Solutions to promote digital transformation in agriculture". The workshop was attended by nearly 200 delegates from units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Agricultural Extension Center, Agricultural Service Centers of 27 provinces and cities and representatives of typical farmers in the region.
The workshop discussed and proposed many solutions to promote digital transformation: Diversifying communication activities, training, and skills training for farmers; increasing the application of GIS solutions; building a big data system, focusing on cultivation, livestock, and aquaculture; designing an integrated aerial and ground observation and monitoring network; supporting and sharing agricultural equipment via digital platforms; designing agricultural data management software, etc.
In addition, the workshop also clarified current difficulties such as digital transformation in agricultural production and business is still new, so the awareness of most businesses and farmers is still limited. Along with that, the infrastructure for development and application of new technologies is not synchronous, the infrastructure does not meet the requirements of agricultural modernization, etc.
Citing this difficulty, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tham in Lang Ngam commune (Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh) said: His family has 1 hectare of agricultural land 300 meters from a residential area, but when working with the supplier, they refused to connect to the network, so it is impossible to apply information technology to production.
From the above issues, Deputy Director of the National Agricultural Extension Center Le Minh Lich said: The Center will concretize the contributions with actions and report to the Ministry for early implementation, because digital transformation is an inevitable trend to increase productivity and enhance economic value in agricultural production today, as well as in the next stage.
