The conference was held from September 12 to 14, 2024 in Hanoi, with the participation of 50 foreign speakers from continents and the Southeast Asian region.
Along with 60 Vietnamese presenters, they shared their experiences and the latest research on knee and hip replacement, ligament reconstruction after injury, and meniscus and articular cartilage preservation.
At the conference, speakers shared scientific reports related to regenerative medicine in preserving knee cartilage. Notably, this year's conference included a session for outstanding young speakers from Southeast Asia to present new research and debate emerging issues in sports medicine.
Representatives from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines visited and worked at Military Hospital 175, Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, and Sante Surgical Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.
Alongside the conference, the annual meeting of the Executive Board of the ASEAN Association for Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy also took place, with an action plan to promote professional exchange, provide professional support, and advance the development of arthroscopy and sports medicine in Southeast Asia to be on par with the continent and the world.
At the annual executive board meeting, Dr. Tang Ha Nam Anh, president of the Vietnam Association of Arthroscopy and Joint Replacement, was elected president of ASSA.

The new ASSA chairman will have a specific action plan to support the transfer of expertise to Laos and Cambodia.
Implement academic exchange programs through fellowships, in-person and online training programs for physicians in the region. Promote scientific research cooperation in the fields of endoscopy and sports medicine, and strengthen the role of ASSA in the Asia-Pacific region.
