Provincial Steering Committee for External Information Affairs deploys tasks for 2024

Today, March 6, the Provincial Steering Committee for External Information Work held a conference to evaluate the results of activities in 2023 and deploy key tasks of external information work in 2024. Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for External Information Work Nguyen Dang Quang chaired the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang emphasized that 2024 is a year of special significance to comprehensively accelerate activities, promote the role of the entire population, the business community and the team of cadres, civil servants and public employees with the spirit of "standing up on their own".

To do well in external information work, we must do well in internal information work, then the internal and external relations will be peaceful. We must attach importance to soft power, both press and social media; in which we must be flexible, creative, using press media to lead and orient social media.

For the three major events in 2024, including: Festival for Peace , the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement to restore peace in Vietnam (1954-2024) and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, it is necessary to promote communication activities to highlight the role and significance of Quang Tri land, the northern outpost of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the great direct rear of the Southern revolution, the struggle for national reunification.

Linking the propaganda of the Peace Festival activities with the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement, the establishment of Vinh Linh Special Zone; the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Army and towards the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Provincial Armed Forces on August 23 (1945-2025), thereby promoting the image of Quang Tri province standing up on its own, creating a solid foundation for future development for domestic and international friends.

External information work aims to attract and support investors to Quang Tri; focus on source information, lead social information, not to lose confidence in the potential, advantages and efforts to create a foundation for future development of the province.

The report on the assessment of foreign information work in 2023 and orientation of key tasks in 2024 presented by the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and Deputy Head of the Provincial Foreign Information Steering Committee Ho Dai Nam at the conference affirmed that, closely following the goals, targets and key tasks of the province in 2023, the Provincial Foreign Information Steering Committee has guided press agencies and related units to carry out well the information and propaganda work on foreign affairs and activities to celebrate major holidays of the province and the country; introduce and promote the image of the land and people of Quang Tri province, socio-economic achievements, investment attraction prospects, and future development potential to domestic and international friends...

The foreign information work was directed promptly, comprehensively, achieved outstanding results, and was suitable for local realities. A new feature in the foreign information work is that the Department of Information and Communications for the first time led the provincial press agencies to work with the media agencies of Savannakhet (Laos) and Mukdahan (Thailand) provinces to strengthen cooperation in information, propaganda, and image promotion of the provinces and countries on the East-West Economic Corridor axis. The Provincial Foreign Information Steering Committee and the Provincial People's Committee also promptly directed and oriented foreign information activities in all fields effectively.

Regarding the key work program in 2024, the Provincial Steering Committee for External Information continues to do a good job of propagating the Party and State's policies and guidelines on external affairs and external information, especially Conclusion 57 dated June 15, 2023 of the Party Central Committee to continue improving the quality and effectiveness of external information work in the new situation; linking external information and internal information, being proactive and creative according to each partner, subject and locality.

Study and thoroughly understand the book of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Vietnam's bamboo diplomacy. Promote foreign information work through bilateral and multilateral forums. Continue to orient local press agencies and coordinate with central press to promote foreign information work, propaganda, introduce and promote the image of Quang Tri province, especially promote outstanding events such as the festival for peace; 70 years of signing the Paris Agreement on ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam; 80 years of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army...

Focus on disseminating provincial planning, expanding development space to the West through the two international border gates of Lao Bao and La Lay. Fully implement 6 diplomatic cooperation minutes between Quang Tri province and neighboring provinces of Laos and Thailand.
