The price of SJC 4-digit 9 gold bars was listed in Hanoi at VND72.5 million per tael for buying and VND75.52 million per tael for selling.
The price of SJC gold bars traded at DOJI in Hanoi ended the session on January 3 at 72.4 million VND per tael for buying and 75.5 million VND per tael for selling.
The international spot gold price on the Kitco floor at 9:53 p.m. on January 3, Vietnam time was at $2,037.2 per ounce. Meanwhile, the gold price for February 2024 delivery on the Comex New York floor was at $2,042.8 per ounce.
Gold prices today, January 4, on the world market fell sharply due to the continued recovery of the USD. However, the international price remained stable at over 2,000 USD per ounce, while the price of SJC gold bars hovered around 75 million VND per tael.
On the stock market , at the end of the trading session on January 3, the VN-Index increased by 12.45 points, to 1,144.17 points. The HNX-Index increased by 1.65 points, to 231.64 points. The UPCoM-Index increased by 0.54 points, to 87.58 points.
The central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the US dollar announced by the State Bank on January 3 was 23,848 VND/USD, up 38 VND compared to the previous session. The USD price at commercial banks on January 3 increased slightly, at the end of the session it was listed around 24,150-24,520 VND/USD (buy - sell).
The world USD price increased sharply. The DXY index - measuring the strength of the USD compared to 6 major currencies - at 9:47 p.m. on January 3, Vietnam time was at 102.58 points, up 0.37% compared to the previous session.
On the world market, gasoline prices today, January 4, tend to increase following the increase from the previous session. Oil prices increased due to concerns about supply disruptions and thanks to expectations of increased demand in China.
In the domestic market, retail prices of gasoline products this afternoon will be applied according to the new price level.
Leaders of some petroleum companies said that domestic petroleum prices in today's adjustment period are likely to decrease following world petroleum prices.
If the regulatory agency does not spend the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund, domestic gasoline prices could fall by 70 to 170 VND per liter. Diesel prices could fall by 320 to 360 VND per liter.
In case the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance deducts from the Stabilization Fund, gasoline prices can remain the same.
