The price list for calculating registration fees for cars and motorbikes issued with Decision 2353/QD-BTC stipulates the price for calculating registration fees for all types of cars and motorbikes on the market.

This Decision annuls the following documents: Decision 618/QD-BTC of the Ministry of Finance on promulgating the Price List for calculating registration fees for automobiles and motorbikes; Decision 1112/QD-BTC of the Ministry of Finance on adjusting and supplementing the Price List for calculating registration fees for automobiles and motorbikes; Decision 2064/QD-BTC of the Ministry of Finance on adjusting and supplementing the Price List for calculating registration fees for automobiles and motorbikes; Decision 452/QD-BTC of the Ministry of Finance on adjusting and supplementing the Price List for calculating registration fees for automobiles and motorbikes; Decision 1238/QD-BTC of the Ministry of Finance on adjusting and supplementing the Price List for calculating registration fees for automobiles and motorbikes.

Accordingly, the General Director of the General Department of Taxation, Director of the Tax Policy Department, Director of the Legal Department, Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Finance, Directors of Tax Departments of provinces and centrally-run cities, Directors of Tax Branches, Regional Tax Branches under the Tax Departments of provinces and cities and related organizations and individuals are responsible for implementing Decision 2353/QD-BTC.

According to the Price List for calculating registration fees for new cars and motorbikes, for passenger vehicles with 9 seats or less, there are many luxury car models with high registration fees such as AUDI with prices ranging from 1.45 billion to over 7 billion VND; Bentley with prices ranging from nearly 8 billion VND to nearly 32 billion VND; Cadilac with prices ranging from several billion to nearly 10 billion VND; Lamborghini with prices ranging from nearly 20 billion to 40 billion VND, Land Rover with prices ranging from over 1 billion to over 20 billion VND; Lexus with prices ranging from over 1 billion to over 8 billion VND; Maybach with prices ranging from over 6 billion to over 27 billion VND; Porsche with prices ranging from 3 billion to over 20 billion VND, Rolls Royce with prices ranging from 20 to 50 billion VND...

However, there are also very cheap car models, mainly from China, such as Chery models priced from only 90 - 320 million VND; Geely models priced from 180 million VND; some Faily models priced from over 100 million VND to under 200 million VND...

What is the percentage of registration fee for cars and motorbikes?

Clause 4, 5, Article 8 of Decree 10/2022/ND-CP stipulates the registration fee rate for cars and motorbikes at the following percentage:

- Motorcycles: The fee is 2%.

Motorcycles of organizations and individuals in centrally-run cities; provincial cities; and towns where the provincial People's Committee is headquartered shall pay the initial registration fee at a rate of 5%.

For motorbikes paying registration fee for the second time or more, the fee rate is 1%. In case the owner of the property has declared and paid the registration fee for the motorbike at 2%, then transferred it to an organization or individual in the above-mentioned area, the registration fee rate is 5%.

- Automobiles, trailers or semi-trailers pulled by automobiles, vehicles similar to automobiles:

From July 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023: The registration fee is 50% of the fee prescribed in Decree 10/2022/ND-CP dated January 15, 2022 of the Government regulating registration fees; current Resolutions of the People's Council or current Decisions of the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities on local registration fee collection rates and amendments, supplements and replacements (if any).

From January 1, 2024 onwards: The registration fee collection rate continues to be implemented according to the provisions of Decree 10/2022/ND-CP dated January 15, 2022 of the Government regulating registration fees; current Resolutions of the People's Council or current Decisions of the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities on local registration fee collection rates and amendments, supplements and replacements (if any).
