In the early morning of November 29, many areas on the Dong Van stone plateau (Lung Cu commune, Tuyen Quang province) were immersed in cold weather when the temperature dropped below 1 degree Celsius. A layer of white ice covered trees, crops and fields, creating a typical winter scene in the highlands.
According to the leader of Lung Cu Commune People's Committee, the temperature dropped sharply last night, causing fields and vegetable gardens to be covered in ice.
Some places recorded temperatures of only 1-2 degrees Celsius, while neighboring communes such as Sa Phin, Son Vi and Meo Vac also suffered from severe cold with temperatures ranging from -1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
The frost phenomenon has a direct impact on people's lives and crop seasons. Farmers are actively protecting their fields, crops, and ensuring food and housing for livestock and poultry.
Local authorities also stepped up propaganda on measures to keep warm, provide adequate nutrition and limit outdoor activities in cold weather.

Also this morning, the temperature in Y Ty ( Lao Cai province) dropped sharply to below 0-3 degrees Celsius, causing many areas of the commune to be covered in white ice, attracting tourists to come and admire it during the weekend.
This is the second time in three days that Y Ty has recorded frost. Previously, on the morning of November 26, the temperature in many areas in Y Ty dropped to 3 degrees Celsius. By 10:00 a.m. the same day, the temperature had slightly increased to 5 degrees Celsius. The deep cold covered the trees and vegetation on the mountain slopes, making them covered in a layer of pure white ice.
This cold spell is forecast to continue in the coming days, bringing severe cold to the highland communes. People are advised to take proactive measures to protect their health, cover their houses, take care of their livestock and ensure their crops to minimize damage.
In December, frost may appear more frequently, not only on mountain peaks above 3,000 m but also in places like Sin Ho, Mu Cang Chai, Mau Son... even the Ba Vi mountain area in Hanoi - where snowfall has been recorded.
