Previously, in the opening match of Group C, the Hong Kong U17 team beat the Macau U17 team 2-0, temporarily leading Group C. However, this position of the Hong Kong U17 team was taken by the Malaysian U17 team because of their impressive victory over the Northern Mariana Islands U17 team.
