Defeating Laos, U22 Malaysia surpassed U22 Vietnam
CNN Indonesia, right after the match between U22 Malaysia and U22 Laos with a score of 4-1 last night (December 6), analyzed: "The victory of U22 Malaysia over U22 Laos has changed the rankings of Group B of the men's football event, at the 33rd SEA Games".

“U22 Malaysia took all three points in their first match at the Southeast Asian Games this year. The victory over U22 Laos last night helped U22 Malaysia officially take the top spot in Group B,” CNN Indonesia added.
According to this newspaper, U22 Malaysia proved to be sharper than U22 Vietnam, against the same weakest opponent in Group B, U22 Laos. That greatly affected the chances of both sides to continue, with the advantage currently leaning towards U22 Malaysia.
CNN Indonesia commented: “The 4-1 victory over U22 Laos shows that U22 Malaysia is more effective than U22 Vietnam, who only beat U22 Laos 2-1 a few days ago. The two teams U22 Malaysia and U22 Vietnam will meet on December 11.”
“The match between these two teams will decide the top spot in Group B. It will be the match that will determine the rankings of the two teams, and also determine the semi-final tickets of both sides”, these are the lines written in the newspaper of the archipelago country.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s Siam Sport newspaper shared the information: “The U22 Malaysia team won a resounding 4-1 victory over U22 Laos. This victory helped U22 Malaysia take the top spot in Group B, before they face U22 Vietnam.”
“U22 Malaysia really exploded in the second half, turning the tables and winning all 3 points in the team's first match at SEA Games 33,” Siam Sport continued.
Thailand's leading sports daily described the two halves of last night's match, which took place at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, as showing two completely different faces of the U22 Malaysia team.
Coach Nafuzi Zain's team started slowly, falling behind U22 Laos in the 4th minute. But in the second half, U22 Malaysia rose up strongly, scoring many goals against the young team from the land of a million elephants.
This detail could become a support for U22 Malaysia, when they face U22 Vietnam a few days later, also at Rajamangala Stadium.
Siam Sport said: “U22 Malaysia has the initiative to be at the top of Group B, before they face U22 Vietnam in the decisive match between the two teams. The match on December 11 will determine which of the two teams will advance to the next round. Meanwhile, U22 Laos has been eliminated.”
