Speaking at the award ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized: The ceremony to summarize and present the first National Press Award on the National Assembly and People's Council (HDND-named Dien Hong) - 2023 is an important and very meaningful event taking place during the 5th Session of the 15th National Assembly, celebrating the 75th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's call for patriotic emulation (June 11, 1948 / June 11, 2023) and the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 / June 21, 2023).

Inheriting and promoting the glorious 77-year tradition of the Vietnamese National Assembly; under the leadership of the Party, the 15th National Assembly continues to make efforts to innovate and improve the quality of its activities towards increasing democracy, professionalism, and the rule of law, achieving many important and comprehensive results in terms of legislation, supreme supervision, decision-making on important national issues, and foreign affairs.

In localities, the activities of People's Councils at all levels have also been increasingly innovated comprehensively, strongly, responsibly, practically, effectively and efficiently. One of the great sources of encouragement, contributing to enhancing the position, strength and prestige of the National Assembly and People's Councils over the past many years is the comprehensive, persistent and creative contribution of the country's press.

“In its role as an important bridge, closely connecting elected bodies with the people and voters nationwide, the national press has increasingly demonstrated its worthiness as a collective propagandist, collective cheerleader, collective organizer, and at the same time a channel of intellectual and responsible criticism towards the country,” the National Assembly Chairman emphasized.

At the ceremony, the National Assembly Chairman praised the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee for proactively implementing the propaganda and promotion of the Dien Hong Award in a scientific, methodical, professional and effective manner. The works submitted for the award and awarded are the crystallization of the enthusiasm, sense of responsibility, love for the profession, trust and sincere feelings of writers and photographers towards the representative agencies of the people.

The appeal and far-reaching impact of the works increasingly affirm the great support of the entire political system and the entire people for the Vietnamese revolutionary press on its nearly century-long glorious journey accompanying the nation, under the Party's flag.

The National Assembly Chairman believes that, from its glorious tradition, with the support and assistance of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, organizations at all levels and the people, the country's revolutionary press will develop continuously, continue to make increasingly important and greater contributions to building a comprehensively developed National Assembly and People's Council, worthy of the trust and entrustment of the people.

“All beginnings are difficult! From the success of the first Dien Hong Award, with the Dien Hong spirit, “thousands of people shouting together”, it is expected that the award will continue to receive great consensus and support, opening up new horizons of exploration, discovery, and creativity for the press system, domestic and foreign writers writing about the Vietnamese National Assembly and People's Councils,” the National Assembly Chairman affirmed.

According to the organizers, after more than 4 months of launching, the first Dien Hong Award received 3,328 press works from 171 domestic and international press agencies, 7 offices of National Assembly delegations and People's Councils. The above figures demonstrate the attractiveness and appeal of the Dien Hong Award to the media and society, not only domestically but also abroad. According to the evaluation of the award jury, this is a quality award, and will be an important press award in the system of revolutionary press awards in our country.

The jury selected 67 outstanding works to award the first Dien Hong Prize, including: 5 A prizes, 13 B prizes, 16 C prizes, 31 consolation prizes; 2 prizes outside the structure. In addition, the organizing committee selected and awarded certificates of merit from the Chief of the National Assembly Office to 20 collectives with outstanding achievements, making important contributions to the success of the first Dien Hong Prize.

Party Central Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha awarded 16 C prizes to authors and groups of authors.

At the ceremony, representatives of the Party and State leaders, members of the National Assembly Standing Committee, leaders of central and local departments, ministries and branches presented awards to the authors and groups of authors who won the Dien Hong Prize and units that made positive contributions to the success of the prize.

* After the award ceremony, Comrade Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Head of the Steering Committee of the Dien Hong Award launched the second Dien Hong Award - 2024. The second Dien Hong Award ceremony will be held in early January 2024 on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam (January 6, 1946 / January 6, 2024).
