Currently, Bao Thanh commune maintains two salt production methods, of which the tarpaulin method accounts for nearly 90% of commercial salt output. However, production still depends mostly on manual labor; transport infrastructure, electricity and irrigation have not been invested synchronously, causing transportation costs to increase and salt farmers' income to remain low.
In the 2026-2030 period, the locality aims to expand the production area to 800 hectares, with an output of 50,000 tons/year, developing the salt industry in an effective and sustainable direction; promoting the application of high technology and focusing on mineral-rich salt products to serve domestic needs, while aiming for export.
During the survey, the working delegation assessed that the proposed investment items of the commune were all in line with the socio-economic development planning of the province.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment - Pham Minh Truyen suggested that the locality continue to improve production infrastructure; strengthen links with businesses to increase income, stabilize the lives of salt farmers and aim for sustainable development of the salt industry in the coming years.
